Frankly, I do not really care, but if I had to choose, it would probably be Obama, not that I agree with much of what he has to say, he is just the lesser of two evils. McCain is a complete dolt, whose overtly religious opinions and prehistoric ideals will only set the US back and keep them on the tracks Bush has already set for them. Perhaps that might be a good thing for Canada, whilst considering NAFTA, and our import/export deals, but would it be a good thing for the rest of the globe? Surely not, as we can all see the fine work Bush has produced in the Middle East. After all, McCain is merely a Bush in training. Ah well, I really don't see either candidate doing much to pull the US out of their black hole. |

Definitely Obama, frankly Mcain creeps me out. I think he would be good for Canada too, he has a good outlook on life. |

I think it's probably about the same as it is in the US maybe a bit more for Obama because I think Canadians are a tad more liberal in general. |

Obama for a better world, but for a better deal for Canada... I don't know if Obama would be good for us. Either way if I could vote I would vote Obama and then hope that Harper is not around after this fall to give in to every US demand and instead we have a better leader who will stand up for us. Unfortunately I don't see anyone right now who could do that. |

I would have to say that I would be for Obama, but I don't necessarily think he would be the best choice for Canada. I think McCain would probably have better interactions with Canada. |

I think we should be more worried about who we plan to put into office next in Canada and how they will interact with the next president rather than who the Americans want in there.
One thing I can't stand is when the politicians make unrealistic promises just to get into office, then reneg on what they campaigned for.
For that reason, I would say I am not fond of McCain, since he has flip-flopped on a number of issues. He was for certain things as a senator, and now suddenly campaigns against them while trying to become president.
But quite frankly, since I have no say in the matter (he's not MY president) I don't really care. I just hope the next guy they put in will be able to put the US economy back on track instead of pending billions to protect a few corporate interests instead of the people's interests. |

Obama would be my choice. Just about everyone that I have spoken to think that Obama will be good for the USA. |

I wish there was a third choice.
With such a large population, why does the USA all ways seem to come up with such polar opposites in the two parties candidates ?
I like McCain's tough stance on terrorists , but not his ideas about drilling in Alaska for oil.
I like Obama's ideas about health care, but I worry about his idea to "re-open the NAFTA agreement. Every time the USA wants to "change things " in the NAFTA , it winds up with US getting screwed, again.
I don't think that the average American voter is ready for a black President, and many also fear that if Obama is elected, Hillary and Bill will be pulling the strings , behind the curtains. Obama has a lot of IOU's to be paid for, after the election is over.
McCain also has his problems, not the least of which are the apparent memory problems, that he has recently shown on TV and radio interviews . Is he able to deal with that huge amount of things that a President has to remember. Of course, Ronnie Reagan was slipping badly, in a mental sense .in his second 4 years in office.
Neither of these guys will be much of a friend to Canada, and in some cases we will suffer no matter who gets in to the mansion at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. All we can hope for is a continuation of the " ignore Canada " program that the Bush adminstration has been running for the past 8 years, now.

MacCain for sure without a doubt.
McCain has already visited Ottawa and seems to understand the US/Canada relationship is very important to both countries.
Obama has already clearly stated:
- he will attempt to renegotiate NAFTA to be more favourable to US (and less so to Canada)
- he is in the movement to prevent oil from the tar sands being used in the US (a big blow to Canada economy)
- he is against the new CN plan to expand its lines through Chicago which is part and parcel of the plan to make Pricne Rupert in BC a super port.
- he is extremely protectionist
- he seems to blame Canada for job losses in Ohio etc. when in fact they all left for China.
- he has never been to Canada and doesnt seem to understand the bond between the two.
I think Obama winning will be BAD news for Canada |

I don't care! It's not my country.
Why not making a poll in USA : "Who would you choose: Stephen Harper or Stephane Dion?"..... What would be the answers?... "I don't care bout Canada!!!" Yes exactly.... |
