OF COURSE we have beaches! Considering the thousands of miles of coastline on 2 oceans, I'd say you have your pick of some excellent beaches. (I didn't count the Arctic Ocean... I'm sure they have beaches but I wouldn't recommend swimming there.)

I've included some very general links to beaches in Vancouver, Vancouver Island, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland. Just google "beaches + [any of the above provinces]" and you'll have a wealth of info.

Well since Canada has the longest coastline in the world it really isn't that hard to find an ocean beach. The warmest year round is the west coast, particularly Vancouver Island. The west side of the Island has plenty of beaches. Tofino and Pacific Rim National Reserve is a beach goers paradise.

Actually Gosling, Canada has three "shores". The Atlantic, Pacific and Arctic Oceans all border Canada.

Mathew H
Yeah there are the types of beaches you're looking for.

Obviously you're not gonna get a beach like in Florida or Southern California... but there are sandy beaches, with waves and surfers,... obviously (typically) restricted to summer months haha.

Tofino, BC is one place with excellent beaches, nice waves, if htat's what you're looking for.

Other than that West Coast beaches can be pretty rocky. If you're into rainforests, and bluffs, it's fantastic. But as for sandy beaches... I can think of Tofino and a few others in Vancouver Island. Qualicum beach is also really good, but it's not great for waves... the tide goes out a long ways though it makes for interesting excursions.

I'm personally not overly familiar with the Maritimes on the Atlantic coast very much. To my knolwedge, PEI, Nova Soctia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland all have spectacular beaches. Very sandy beaches, very nice. I know that there are surfers in Newfoundland... I woudl assume so in Nova Scotia and PEI as well... but verifiably I know Newfoundland has waves and beaches.

The Atlantic is colder than the Pacific though, so I would take that into consideration.

As for sandy, ocean beaches though... yes Canada has many.

I would go online and search a bit more.

Good luck to ya.

There are real beaches. Warm is relitive. If you are used to Florida and Mexico the answer is no.

the longest continuous inland beach in the world (with waves and sand and a virtual Ocean (great lake) is Wasaga Beach in Ontario on the shores of Georgian Bay. You can walk out for nearly a mile and still touch.
West Coast beaches; Vancouver has several right downtown being Spanish banks, Kitsilano and if you like clothing optional there is Wrecked Beach out by UBC. Long Beach out by Tofino is mile and miles of sand and surf but cold water if you want to surf there its with a west suit.
The Okanagan also has some nice beaches in Kelowna or Penticton or a little further sotuh in Osoyoos is the warmest lake in Canada. It gets up to about 80 degrees in the summer... too hot to swim in my books.
If your looking for sand beach and tropical waters aka Maui or Tahiti... uh uh .. it is Canada

Lake Beaches have waves and sand.. the Great Lakes are full of them.. LOL
And Canada has two shores, just like the US so why wouldn't they have shores and sand?

Dead Day Afternoon
Sauble Beach and Grand Bend are really nice.
Not ocean but the sand is white and it is wavey and there are no deadly sharks or snakes to worry about.

Samantha C
No no, only the FAKE beaches here.

Yes we have ocean beaches. We're surrounded by ocean coastline! And it's not exactly cold all year round you know! It's warm in the summer, perfect beach weather. Although you wont get any Mediterranean weather if that's what you mean by "warm beaches."

The beaches with waves you are talking about exist on the West side of Vancouver Island near Tofino and Ucluelet. A friend of mine watches the internet and weather to see where and when the waves will be up to go surfing.

The first legal "clothing optional" beach to open in Canada is called "Wreck Beach" and is situated below the banks of the University of British Columbia. On a hot sunny weekend, there will be more people at this beach then all the other beaches combined. at least 75% are sans clothes and 20% topless and a few full bathing suits. It's a fun, safe beach where you can be yourself and be comfortable.

Canada has beaches. Warm ones too. Most beaches are warm when the sun is shining down on the sand. The question is whether you expect the waters to be warm too. You can have a warm beach but the water may be a bit too cold for some people's liking.

If you are able to swim in the Atlantic waters off the coast of New Hampshire, or have no problems going for a dip in the Pacific Ocean off of Malibu, then yes Canada has beaches with water you can swim in.

The water temperature will never be able to match the waters around Florida or Southern California. We simply are too far north. But if you are in 80-90F weather and want to take a quick dip in the ocean, it will really coool you off.

The temperature of the water in the Atlantic (around Nova Scotia) is usually around 60-65F in summer. On the Pacific coast around the Vancouver area, it hovers around 50F all year round. Those are good for quick dips or okay for kayaking or surfing if you have a wetsuit on.

Most Canadians prefer to use a pool or swim in a lake because the temperatures get up into the 70-80F range. But there still are some of us who brave the cold waters to put our feet in and then run back to the beach to nap in the warm summer sun.

Karen L
Yes, there are. Most of the BC coast, though, is rocky rather than sandy. Jericho Beach/Spanish Banks near Vancouver is a pretty big beach, but doesn't get very big waves since it's not exposed to the open Pacific. If you want a true ocean beach with big waves, you pretty much have to go to the west coast of Vancouver Island, near Tofino for example. The water doesn't get very warm though, even in summer. People wear wetsuits to surf there, all year round.

Man you must be pretty dense. Do you have any Idea how much coastline we have!!! OMG

Yeah there are beaches around Vancouver like cresent beach & White rock. If you're looking for surfing there's great wave in Tofino on Vancouver island.

Hey, check out the EAST COAST!
Prince Edward island has some fantastic beaches, and warm too!
So does the southern coast of New Brunswick!
Enjoy!!

Alice
DON'T BELIEVE IT WHEN PEOPLE SAY CANADA IS ALWAYS COLD.
I know this has nothing to do with what you asked, but it is sort of important. Of course, if you go in the Spring, Winter, or Fall, you should expect it won't be as warm as if you go in the Summer.

Yes, there are plenty of beaches.

Plenty of our lakes have waves and sand, depending on where you are on the coastline. There're even sand dunes out by Lake Ontario.

slipstreamer
They have lots of beaches, but Canada doesn't get warm. Go south to the US or head to the Caribbean

Pooches P
honestly not really. sorry man
