Are there desert's in Canada?

If so, is one able to camp out in them? And about the Sask. - I'd really like to spend the night in the praries. Are there places you can stay or park your car and have an awesome and clear view of the night sky? Thank you.

yes

Well, there is one in southern BC. This one has rattlesnakes, cacti, the works. There are many polar deserts in the north. I know there is a national park on Ellesmere Island, but that is WAY far north. Plane ride would be incredibly expensive, but I've heard it is an absolutely magical place to camp in. If you're up to it...

South Saskatchewan and Alberta are merely a wee bit dry. ... not classic deserts. Saskatchewan Landing Provincial Park come with a tiny pocket of rattlesnakes, though, and Grasslands National Park is very scenie. For a true, Sahara-style desert, put "Athabaska sand dunes" into a search engine.

hilarywow
Yes the area of Osoyoos is technically a desert, you can even find rattle snakes there. There are tons of camping places there.

They have what would be more like a tundra . Camp your heart out . Enjoy the view with less pollution which is known to lesson the view of the night time sky.

There are a couple of small, genuine deserts in British Columbia's interior, but they are very small and you can't camp out in them. Much of the area up around Lytton and Ashcroft is technically a desert -- that is, it gets less than 9 inches of rain a year - and has rattlesnakes, kangaroo rats, and other desert creatures, but it doesn't have the sand dunes. There are lots of places to camp nearby, but some of them are dry campsites, so make sure you take lots of water with you.
As for Saskatchewan, yes, there are campsites where you can stay and enjoy the clear night sky. And it is spectacular, because Saskatchewan has relatively unpolluted air. Try to plan your trip during the Pleiades showers. They are SO spectacular. Just spread your blanket on the ground and enjoy the show! It lasts for several hours every night.
Have a great trip.

no they don't

Hippie
