Wow. Not that you are racist or anything...
A quarantine for flu is valid wherever it happens. If a group of Chinese tourists came to Canada, carrying the swine flu virus, would you want them wandering around playing tourist in all the busiest spots in Canada? Or would you want them quarantined until they were no longer infectious? I think I would prefer the latter - and China has every right to treat contagious tourists with quarantine, for the same reason that we would.

thinkingtime
They can do what they like in their own country.

The fact the quarantined is a Canadian bunch is irrelevant. What difference does it make whether they are Canadian or Turks, or Nepalese? What matters is whether or not they have been exposed to the nasty virus, and if they did, all precautions must be taken. These Canadians are not mistreated. They are staying in a luxury hotel and are being treated fairly, given the circumstances. Remember that the Chinese had a very bad experience with the aviary flu. They don't want to take any chances. Be fair.

If its a health issue, then I have no concern......I would think we would do the same, if Chinese visitors presented with Swine Flu.

kenoplayer
As long as they are not being mistreated, I have no problems with it.

I do not like your racism that is in this question.

However, since none of the Canadians have the flu or even symptoms of the flu I think it's pretty stupid. If they were actually infected I could see the reasoning behind.

Whenever I hear quarantined i get the vision of people locked up in a small glass room, as long as they are being fed good and not being treated like animals it should be fine, although I don't think that they should be forced to stay anywhere they don't want to.

Ragooza
i think its silly, but then again i think there are sillier things out there
