U.K. citizens do NOT need a visa to enter the U.S. You can go to the website below to confirm this. Just enter your nationality, destination, and transit place ( Canada). it will tell you that you DO need a passport, and DO NOT need a visa.

when you cross the border you have to fill in a form and pay $6 usd for a visa waiver and it lasts for 3 months.I have been to Canada and crossed the border at Cornwall Ontario a few times. They take your fingerprints and photo your eyes.

If you are going into the US for a temporary tourist related trip, or similar then you don't need a visa. You fall under the Visa Waiver Program like most of Europe.

You need a tourist visa pass for USA. It costs $6.00 (yank) and you can have it put into your passport at the border crossing.
America has changed all the ways they do things, even as a Canadian I now need to bring my passport. before it was just a drivers licence. This pass is valid for 90 days.

No, just a UK passport. If you were born in the U.K. you should have no problem. If you were born anywhere else, and it would be a problem for you to be sent there, then don't come to the USA. Google for "Maher Arar".

i travelled to family to a place called Hamilton in Canada just outside Toronto. We had agreed prior to my journey that we would visit the states and go over the border into Buffalo. In order for me to do that i was told i needed a visa to enter the states, so i queued for hours at the American Embassy got my visa eventually and when i got to Canada and was crossing over the border the border personnel, who were not the nicest, informed me the visa wasnt worth the paper it was printed on????? I had to fill in another card as a visitor to the States and it had to be returned back to them on my return journey back over the border. So if i were you i would contact your local American Embassy and enquire in case things have changed since my visit. Good luck

You will require a passport for both the united states and canada.
