Best and cheapest way to travel Canada??
We are backpackers and want to find a really inexpensive way to travel throughout Canada. Funds are low but we don't want to go home yet.
Other than Greyhound and Moose - any ideas??
We are in the West at the moment. Thank you
I have a friend who biked across Canada from BC all the way to Nova Scotia with her cycling group. She said that she learned so much about the country and the people by doing that. She is now part of a group biking across Africa (from Cairo to Capetown).
If you think that would be too long or too hard, you can buy a special VIA Rail pass that lets you get on and off the train at as many stops as you want. Of course, since you mentioned funds were a bit low, the tickets for the train may be a bit out of your price range.
If money is tight, the only other option is to walk and try to hitch rides between towns.

Backpackers? I've always wanted to do that! Y'all are so lucky. If you took a bus it really wouldn't be backpacking would it? Hitch rides with old people. Buy a bike!

My husband is rich and I can tell you, going to Canada I would definitely hire a private luxury coach and stay at Fairmont hotels everywhere there. That's what traveling should be like.
