vancouver and toronto are both fairly expensive... if you want a smaller cost of living, try some of the smaller cities, possibly in more rural areas (ie the okanagan in BC)... also, real estate is quite cheap in the prarie provinces

Katy B has given the best answer in my opinion but she could have added Ottawa, the national capital and less expensive than the bigger cities to live and where you bilingual skills will prove helpful. It has a pretty good night life and yet is not too big.

This year, a Canadian magazine, MoneySense, examined cities in Canada using a wide range of factors and the results are at this link:

http://list.canadianbusiness.com/rankings/bestplacestolive/2008/Default.aspx?sp2=1&d1=a&sc1=6.

I would recommend studying it carefully to make the best decision. Use the web to further research cities in which you might be interested. There is a wealth of information available.

Good luck.

Canada does not suck whoever said that!

Toronto- if looking for a big, fun, beautiful, on the water, multi-cultural, fantastic city. :)

if slightly smaller- the greater toronto area such as mississauga, or brampton- which are 20 minutes away from toronto but a little smaller, and not as busy.

I have never lived there, but I have also visited Quebec City- and since you speak both French and English you'd fit in! It is amazingly beautiful- honestly one of the most gorgeous places I've ever been. Its a mix of Candian culture, and French European- has a European flair, but still in North America.

Big cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, etc are fairly expensive to live in. You might want to look at a smaller city outside of the large ones, you will save a lot more money but still be relatively close to the big cities if you want to visit them. Try Mississauga or Kitchener-Waterloo, which are fairly close to Toronto. I think K-W are two very wonderful cities. It also depends on what kind of area you're looking for. City life? Urban, rural? Nice landscapes? You could also try somewhere up a little further in Northern Ontario (Sudbury, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, which all do have French-Canadian influences). They are smaller cities but are beautiful and friendly and still have plenty of things to do. I would not recommend a city like Elliot Lake, which has a large retired community, or larger cities that I mentioned earlier because to live there is very expensive.

You could also look around in Quebec since you speak fluent French, outside of Montreal or in Quebec City.
