It really depends on what kind of life you are looking for, and what age you are at. If you are young, I will say go to Toronto because that's where all the jobs are. The universities there are among the finest in the country. The universities of Waterloo, Toronto and Queen are consistently rated the best universiies in Canada. The entertainment is the best in the country.
It is the manufacturing capital of Canada and it has 9,000 factories in the Torornto area so there are a lot more jobs. Also Toronto is the financial capital of Canada. Bay Street controls the finance of the country and all the banks head offices are in Toronto. So there are a lot of financial jobs.
If you are a little older and looking for a place to retire, Victoria or Vancouver is where you want to settle down in. There arent many jobs in these nice cities but they are good places to settle and retire if you have lots of money. The housing in these cities are the most expensive in the country, so if you are young, there is no way you can afford to buy a house here. There are lots of old people in these cities. Just try walking around and you will see what I mean. There are no manufacturing factories in these cities so there are no jobs, except if you want to serve hamburgers at the McDonalds here. The weather - iIt rains all the time here and it is really depressing weather. Canadians go there to retire and wait for their Creator. |

that guy who mentions Vancouver as a place to retire has NO idea what he is talking about! Victoria - yes (it's beautiful, but we often refer to it as "home for the newly wed or nearly dead")..
..Vancouver is an extremely dynamic and hustling city, there is a serious boom going on here in advance of the 2010 Winter Olympics, as a result there is a lot of employment but housing is getting increasingly expensive.
Toronto's nice, but Vancouver has it beat for fitness of people, and natural beauty - we have beaches, ocean, forests and snow-capped mountains all within 15 minutes of downtown.. arguably, Van's one of the most cosmopolitan of Cdn citeis with easily half of us being of visible minority.. many Pacific Rim peoples..
The really great thing is beacuse Vancouver is so young (just barely over 100 years) we are ALL newcomers, and Chinese and East Indian and Fijian people helped build this province as much as the WASPs.. so there is not so much "old money establishment" like you will find in Toronto.
Oh yeah, and are winter's are the mildest in Canada (except for Victoria).. and that, in and of itself is a big deal! While the rest of the country is covered in snow, we have cherry bloosoms and tulips!!
Don't get me wrong - I've spent a good deal of time in T.O, and its a great city - lots to do, and for me a West Indian community that I wish we had here.. but Vancouver has it beat on too many fronts..
Toronto people like to call Vancouver "lotus land" because (like the mythical land in Homer's Odyssey) because so many of them come out here, and become so enraptured with the magic of this place, that they never return....
There's a reason that Vancouver has consitantly ranked as one of the top five cities on the planet for quality of life by sources from the UN to Mercer Human Resource Consulting (places to work index) to the Economic Intelligence Unit as well as being ranked the #1 city in the Americas by Condé Nast Traveler. |

Theres a huge job demand in Vancouver right now. The economy is booming. The air is clean and we are statistically the healthiest people amongst all of Canada, regarding fitness and health. The winters here are not that cold compared to places like Toronto.
However, if you plan to move to Vancouver, you better have a big wallet or lots of money to save up. The housing market here has almost tripled in price value. |

They all have jobs and education and entertainment. I'd say Toronto and Vancouver are your best bets.
Good luck with your move. Don't forget to contact the embassy. |

I have no experience in any other city but Vancouver and without knowing the others I find it hard to imagine the others could be better. Vancouver is one of the greatest cities on the planet. |
