Can Canadians still fly within the US without a passport?

I'm planning on going to Florida at the end of this month, but I don't have a passport yet. I'm in alberta so i'm planning on driving across the border to great falls and flying from there to florida. So I'm just wondering if thats still legal or if i should get a rush on getting a passport.
Also, how do I go about looking at/ booking that kind of a flight? Can I do it over the internet and be able to get the prices in Canadian dollars? Im just so confused if anyone could shed some light on this that would be awesome. thanx

I think some responders didn't read the question. Yes, you can fly WITHIN the US without a passport, but you need a passport to fly across the border and as of June 1, 2009, you'll need a passport to cross at all.

To get flights on the internet, just search 'cheap flights' or 'bargain airfares' and lots of sites will come up. Just enter where you're coming from and going to and take it from there. Most will quote fares in $US, some will show you Canadian if you want, and it isn't all that hard to convert, anyway. Just add 20% to the US price and there's your Canadian price. You can also search individual airline sites and see if they have any sales happening. Try Southwest, they're good. You might get a much better price and more choice if you fly out of Spokane though that makes for a longer drive. If you want to figure out who flies out of Great Falls, try searching for Great Falls Airport, and often the airport's website will have a list of airlines that fly from it.

Depends on how and when you're traveling. For example you "as a Canadian" don't need a passport when "driving or cruising" (until june 2009)

You do need a passport if you're flying.

On or after june 2009, you will need a valid passport regardless of how you're traveling

As of January 1, 2006 Canadians need passports to fly in / through the US. You need to get a rush on that passport!

You can use any travel website to book flights in the US, though fares will only be displayed in CAD on a Canadian website like http://travelocity.ca

I had a similar issue last year. I contacted a US carrier, explaining that I wasn't able to obtain a Canadian passport in time for a trip that I had to take. They advised me that as long as I had two pieces of valid ID, one of which was photo there wouldn't be a problem. I drove from Ottawa to Syracuse and flew within the US without a passport and encountered no problems. I would suggest though that you contact the airline you're going to be using just to be sure that they won't have any issues with your lack of a passport.

(Get one ASAP regardless)

Price quotes will generally be in the currency of the country or origin. If you're booking flights within the States the price quote will be in US dollars.

as from june 1st you must have a passport to drive across the border

You'll need a passport to fly to the US. Get help from a travel agent with planning your trip, their services are free for you and they can save you lots of money and grief!
