If you are a US resident, the answer is usually yes, but it's ultimately up to the rental car company as to whether they allow their cars to be taken into Canada. Most, if not all, companies do allow it, but some will require you to obtain a Canadian non-resident insurance card from the rental car company themselves at no charge.
(Be prepared to show your rental agreement to Customs when crossing the border -- they often ask for it.)
If you are a Canadian resident, the rules are different due to Canadian federal law. A Canadian resident is not allowed to take a rental car from the US to Canada unless the car has license plates from a Canadian province on it. If the car has US plates on it, it cannot be driven across the border by a Canadian. |

I hsve seen questions about driving rental cars between the U.s, and Canada before and some people say you cannot do it...BUT I did it ...with the permission of the rental company, and without any problems. So, just be sure it is ok with the rental company. i rented from hertz...and the gps system automatically switched from km to miles...so their cars were set up to do this. |

It should be OK, but check with the rental car company to make sure it isn't a problem. |

The short answer is "Ask the rental agency".
Some of them have a clause right on the rental agreement that the car cannot be driven across international borders. You have to find a rental agency that allows it.
Also, make sure if you bought the insurance for the rental, that the policy will be honoured if you get in an accident or the car is stolen while you are in Canada. |

yes you can ..as long as you get permission and advise the car rental company .You see they require you take extra insurance if you do as well
their are some rental agencies that don't allow it ...when crossing the border you can even be asked to show the papers...so ask the rental company you decide on not yahoo answers |
