Can I drive from the US and leave the car with my husband in Toronto Canada and fly back home to the US.?

My husband is in Canada on business and would like to have the car with him for traveling. I am going to visit with him for a few days and fly home. Can I buy a one way ticket back home? We are US citizens.
Additional Details
My husband will be driving the car back home in a few weeks instead of flying. Is it still ok?

Yes, it is perfectly fine on all accounts, you driving there. Your husband driving back, that is perfectly fine. Yup! Yup!

As long as you (the driver and/or drivers of the vehicle) are at least 16 years old and have a valid driver's license from your own province, state or country and your automobile insurance coverage is sufficient then making the drive shouldn’t be a problem.

I know you said a few weeks but be aware that if you are from another country and visiting Ontario for more than three months, you need an International Driver's Permit from your own country or you may have to apply for an Ontario driver's license, depending on your length of stay.

Also, you asked if you can purchase a one-way ticket back home. *nods* That you can. Well depends on the flights and what is available but the option is there.

With Air Canada a one-way trip on a Tango Plus fare will run you anywhere from ninety dollars (Canadian dollars) to two-hundred and fifty dollars. On a Latitude fare it will be anywhere from two-hundred and fifty dollars to four hundred dollars. And, on an Executive Class fare that’s anywhere from six-hundred dollars to seven-hundred dollars.

paaatches –Don’t forget your passport for your flight home because you are going to need it. *smiles* Enjoy the drive.

What you could do, is get a bus from Toronto to the Buffalo airport and get a flight from Buffalo. Flights from Buffalo are cheaper than from Toronto to a US city. My cousin lives in Toronto and she always goes from Buffalo when she flys down here because flights from Toronto are expensive, because it's an international airport and Air Canada's hub city.

Air Canada Tango (It's like Delta Connection) was asking $220 for a nonstop flight from Raleigh to Toronto when I was going to visit. I went with JetBlue (with connection in NY) for $90 into Buffalo.

It should not be a problem. the Canadians do not care what type of ticket you buy.

Absolutely not a problem. If it only for a short time, I believe less than 30 days, otherwise you are required to register the vehicle in Ontario.

Look on the bright side.
Yes, you can.
