At this point, you don't need a passport to go to Canada if you are driving. As long as you have proof of citizenship, you'll be okay. However, if you want to get a work permit, or work visa, that may be another story. Being a convicted felon won't stop you from getting a passport, but Canada may now allow you to stay for an extended period. |

What is a "passport to Canada"? Do you want a Canadian passport, or do you want to enter Canada with your non-Canadian home country's passport in hand? |

Having a past felony charge (or conviction) is not a sufficient reason to prevent someone from obtaining a passport.
However, ALL countries have the right to refuse entry to anyone who has been CHARGED with a felony, and will refuse entry to anyone who has been CONVICTED of a felony.
Pardons (even of felonies) are locally applicable; they are not recognized in international law. Therefore, even if you have been pardoned, the record of the felony (conviction or charge) still exists in terms of international travel. |

You get a passport FROM your own country, and no you probably will not be allowed into Canada. My friend had a roadside suspension 20 years ago and was held up for 5 hours at the border. They called me to see if I would "vouch" for him, asked me how long I had known him, where he worked in the US, if I could spell his last name, when his birthdate was etc etc. They finally let him through after 5 hours and that was only for a roadside suspension, no charges. |

Yes, you can get a passport. The only restriction listed on the passport application site is owing back child support. You can go to the website below to get all application information and print out the forms. |
