I'm disagreeing with everyone else. Canada will allow dual citizenship - nothing in their "vows" include renouncing any other country. I know of people who have kept their US citizenship and gotten Canadian citizenship. The US doesn't exactly like it, but it is possible.

This guy isn't a lawyer, but his information on his site is pretty good and will give you a starting point for any further research. http://www.richw.org/dualcit/

I dunno if Canada offers dual citizenship... you should ask someone like an immigration lawyer.

daniellagiovanni
if you OBTAIN Canadioan citizenship then you can keep the US one too. You can hold dual citizenship at one time.

csucdartgirl
Nope. You can have dual in some countries, but Canada is not one of them.

I think you have to give up your U.S. citizenship if you want to become a Canadian citizen.

Geoff
Why would you want to keep it?
