Can I travel with a one litre bottle of tequila from Mexico to Winnipeg, Canada?
I just got back from Mexico and customs let me go through with 4 liters as long as it didn't go over a certain amount (money wise) and as long as I claimed it they were totally OK

If you are absent from Canada for 48 hours or more you can declare up to 1Litre of 40% alcohol Duty Free, provided you are within the allowed dollar amount of duty free goods.
If you are visiting Canada, you can bring in 1Litre of 40% alcohol Duty Free provided you are consuming it here.
In reality you can bring 5 cases of Tequila if you wish, but you must declare it, and pay the duties. I've brought in over a case of spirit once, declared it and paid the duties.
I just checked the government website and found this.
"You can bring in more than the free allowance of alcohol except in Nunavut and the Northwest Territories. However, the quantities must be within the limit set by the province or territory where you will enter Canada. If the value of the goods is more than the free allowance, you will have to pay both customs and provincial or territorial assessments. For more information, check with the appropriate provincial or territorial liquor control authority before coming to Canada."
