Can a person with a felony on their military record enter Canada? Can Canadian Customs access that information?

The felony happened within the last five years.

Yes Canada and the US share the info and if you are in the US computers as having a felony it will appear on the Canadian computers. Here is your "yea but" it will depend on what exactly the crime was, being in the military you can get a felony charge for being AWOL just as well as being an axe murderer and Canada customs has the right to deny you access. Normally they won't ask if you are driving across the border but if you are flying then they will ask.

Criminal inadmissibility

If you have committed or been convicted of a criminal offence, you may not be allowed to enter Canada.

Criminal offences include both minor and serious offences, such as theft, assault, manslaughter, dangerous driving and driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. For a complete list of criminal offences in Canada, consult the Canadian Criminal Code.

If you were convicted of a crime when you were under the age of 18, you can probably still enter Canada. See the Related Links at the bottom of this page for more information about admissibility.

A felony charge automatically bars you from entering Canada.

Yes they can access that, and they will.

Not sure if they'll let a felon in, most likely no.

When they input your information into their computers, it will give them information about you. Not sure how that info gets into their system, as we have been known to let known terrorists and murderers enter Canada (and then spend the next 10 years trying to deport them!). I believe every single person who crosses the border is dealt with individually, and it seems like a lot of times, its the luck of the draw as to who you get to process you. I have been on a bus load of people, where the customs officer looked at the line up behind the bus, and just waved us through. On the other hand, I have been driving over when the customs officer was looking into the car and questioned me about the book I had lying on the back seat that was called "Ten Pieces of Gold". (Like I would be carrying real gold with a label, LOL). It was a music book.

When we went to Canada we didn't have to have any information about a criminal record. We had our birth certificates but they didn't even ask us for them.
