Driving to Albany from Houston would be a longer trip. You'd have an easier trip driving to DFW and taking an AA flight to toronto.

From DFW to YYZ Toronto: flights start at about $310 (according to http://www.expedia.com/ )

From ALB Albany, NY to YYZ Toronto: flights start at about $525-600 (it is not worth the money to fly from Albany, as it is pretty close)

If you have any other question, feel free to contact me.
