Take the advice of those who suggested an international licence. My daughter has a licence in the UK now, but she has an international licence, so she has no problem when she comes home to Canada.

Yes as a temporary visitor you are allowed to drive anywhere in Canada with your Full British Driving Licence

not sure buy my uncle is from the uk travels to canada almost every year and rents a car each time so I don't see it a problem ,
just call the canadian embassy before you leave they'll give you all the correct info you need
Have fun !

yes you can,but only for a certain length of time so i you are just coming for a holiday its fine

The quick answer is yes you can drive with your UK license because I drive with my provincial license over there, WITHOUT getting an international drivers license. Where you WILL have a problem is that you won't be able to hire a car. Most hire car agencies what you to be at least 24 before they will rent you one.

HighT is right here for you to qualify for your G1 a begginers licence here, you have to be 16 yrs old, and for someone coming here from anywhere as long as you have a valid regular or specialized licence in your country of origin, like you drive lorries or other large vehicles.

As for a temporary permit, if your palnning on being here foran extended time you might check with the Provincial Ministry of Transport, if you move from one province to an other you have 3 months to transfer the info and tags over.

All I can say to this subject is that when I fly to Canada I need beside my German License also a International License. And by the way....Canada is beautiful so have a good time there.
I see in here that many people say we don`t need a International License, now is it just money making that they want us to get one?

With an English licence you can only drive in english Canada. You need a French licence to drive in Quebec.
