"malica" is correct...far better to go to the Canadian side. You do not need a passport to enter Canada by LAND until June 1, if that is your concern.

Yes, but the view from the Canadian side is far more impressive, and worth the crossing. You won't be able to see much if any of the Horseshoe Falls from the US side

I'm glad to inform you that you CAN see it from the States. I would personally recommend to go to the Canadian side because most of the "attractions" are on that side.

Yes, you can see the Niagara Falls from the US side. But, it is better to go on the Canadian side for a fantastic and better view of the falls.
