Can we go to Canada even if we're not US citizens? |
My family and I would like to travel to Canada to visit my aunt.
We are from the Philippines and we've been here in the US for almost 2 years now. We just don't know if we still need passports and other documents to cross the border.
Somebody told us that we can't because we're not US citizens.
Do you guys think we can go to Canada? Either by car or plane?
Additional Details We're just staying there for only 5 days, not for more than a month. |

Are you permanent residents with green cards? If you are a green card holder in the U.S. you can enter Canada without a visa, but you still need your passport from the Philippines whether you fly or drive. If you do not have green cards, you need your passports and a visa to enter Canada...and a valid visa to re-enter the U.S. See site below and scroll down to 2nd paragraph under "Visitor Visa Exemptions " to see that green card holders do not need a visa to enter Canada. |

You (and your family) will need not only a valid passport and a completed visa application but also proof of a round trip air ticket (such as a letter from your travel agent or a photocopy of the air ticket) and one photo. In addition, your passport must be valid for 6 months....if it's not then you must first obtain a new passport.
Edit: You need a passport and Canadian visa regardless of the duration of your stay (e.g., a stay 5 days,1 month or 6 months) |

If you are flying, you will need a passport.
If driving: Are you permanent legal residents? You will need your green card and ID. If you have a green card, you do not need a visa.
Without a green card, as a citizen of the Philippines, you also need a travel visa.
Check the cited embassy website below for further information. |

Canada is not a part of the US. They still need passports as will you. If you are going to another country you need your passport. |

You need passports even when you're US citizens, but they do let you in sometimes but they have to check your car fully and all your car documents. |
