Yes you can. If you buy something for x amount of $ you get more back in Canadian. They will not give you American $ back. When you leave Canada make sure you convert your Canadian money back to US $ because Canadian money is worth less in the US

Just use your ATM card to get Canadian cash out as needed. you will get the best exchange rate thru an ATM. |

No one is going to be happy about it if you do, and will probably not pay any exchange on it. Its not a big hassle, when you get here pop into a bank and exchange your money. One thing about Cdn banks is they have lots of Cdn money on hand. There is a bank almost every block in the cities.
FYI some credit card companies will add a fee to your account for "foreign exchange service" - your bank might charge a fee too if you use it to withdraw funds, I paid one when withdrawing cash in China - |

You can in most places, like hotels, large department store, but I really wouldnt advise it. The currency exchange at those places are ridiculous. They overcharge you and some other places practically rip you off and make you pay more. If you can get it exchanged before you go to Canada, I'd do that. If thats not an option, theres plenty of foreign money exchange places. |

Most businesses will accept US money, but you will be losing a lot in the exchange. Use a credit card, and you will be getting a better exchange rate. |
