Can you cross the Canadian border by foot? |
I'm travelling to Toronto on Friday, but my plane lands in Buffalo. I've researched a couple different means of getting from one to the other, but so far they're either much too expensive or generally unappealing. So I was wondering about the plausibility of taking a bus/taxi from the airport to the border, crossing by foot, then taking another bus/taxi to the place where I'm staying. Would that work? |

I've taken the bus to and from Buffalo a couple of times when flying to the US and flew from the Buffalo airport. Greyhound has buses running between Toronto and Buffalo, it's roughly $20-$30 each way (the cheaper end if you are a youth/student). That would probably be a lot cheaper than taking a cab from the airport to the border then crossing then taking another cab.
Crossing the border with a large group can either be quick or take a while. I've made the cross-boarder trip a couple times on the bus and only had a problem once that held us up a little bit, and that was just the line at the border. However, if there is a wait at the border, you will have a wait whether you are in a car or on a bus.
Hope that helps! |

Yes, but you can take a bus straight from Buffalo to Toronto without getting off...and there is also an Amtrak train. See sites below. |

It would actually be cheaper to take a bus from buffalo to Toronto, in one continuous trip. Buffalo is actually about 2 hours by car away from Toronto. |

I know you can in Niagara Falls NY on the rainbow bridge, not sure about the Ft. Erie crossing. Greyhound will take you right across as well, where are you staying in Canada? I could tell you a little bit more if I knew that info |

you can't cross the border near niagara by foot. but i'm sure there are parts of the border that aren't guarded, like near central canada. but other than that, you can't cross by foot. you'd have to take a bus, drive, or fly. i don't think a regular taxi driver would be willing to take you across the border. |

It only costs about $25 (can.) to go from Buffalo to Toronto by bus through Coach Canada. This would be less expensive than a taxi and more legitamate than walking.
