You had better ask your mother if she has citizenship or a pernanent residency visa for Canada. |

I hope your mom is aware that it can take up to 2 years for immigration approval. You can't just move into another country. |

Honestly, (as a serious rap/hip-hop fan) the truth of the matter is, Toronto is the largest city in Canada, the fifth largest in North America and the only Canadian one in the top 20. It most likely has the largest population of "brothers" and is about the only one where they have any swagger. (When I hear of a successful rap artist from Montreal, Halifax, or Vancouver, I'll let y'all know.) ;-)

Beautifully, Canada has no history of slavery, and was the end-point for the "underground railway". While there's racism everywhere, it's nothing like it is in the U.S. (I was recently in Chicago for a visit, and lo and behold, some men sat down beside me and my husband at a club, and started spewing their racist drivel. Now, I don't condemn all Americans, but that does happen quite a bit. So, what're the odds a "rare" group of racist Americans happened to sit next to us? Let's just say it's never happened to me here in Canada, even when I was in an interracial relationship. The ONLY time I received racist comments was in the U.S. So.... You know the old saying, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating.")
I've been to every large city in Canada, and as much as others don't like it or want to admit it, there's no other city in Canada like Toronto. (And believe me, the haters would loudly protest they're happy about that. ...Sad, little, small town folks.) ;-) Toronto is more like New York and Chicago, in some respects (although still unmistakably Canadian).
There aren't really any terribly "rough" areas of Toronto. (By comparison, I've lived in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, and LA.) So if gang bangin' and the like is your definition of hardcore, you won't find it here. Toronto is, ironically, one of the safest cities of Canada. In a recent study of crime rates in the 27 largest cities in Canada, Toronto came in at #26. So swagger is based more on personality, accomplishment (and $$$), and innovation, rather than so-called "street cred." or infamy. (We're still so terribly Canadian, in that law & order is still expected.)
That said, you can't just move to Canada. It takes time to apply, etc. And there's no guarantee of approval. |

I'm not really sure what you're asking. For a larger city, I love Calgary, Alberta. For a smaller city, I love Kingston, Ontario. If, however, you're looking for a tougher city with a more ethnically diverse population, you might want to look at Toronto or Vancouver. Does that help at all? |

You can't just move here from the US and start working...
If you are talking about trying to be some tough punk...move to the north end of Winnipeg...that will teach you a lesson or two (murder capital of Canada)
If you are talking about the Rap Hip/hop scene Saskatoon or Toronto is the place to go...
If you are just talking about putting some hair on your chest go work in one of the northern mines or oil fields...good money but hard work. |

I hope your mom isn't planning to need a job in Canada. If she's not a Canadian citizen, she won't be able to work here without a work visa and they aren't all that easy to come by.
For the last 2 paragraphs of your question, I haven't got a clue what you mean. |

The nicest cities in Canada are in British Columbia. Clean air, surrounded by beautiful mountains, pristine lakes.etc But it is als very expensive. I lived in BC for many years. Just to buy a small entry level house your looking at a min of $500,000. Rent, a 1 bedroom, a min of $1100/month.
More affordable is out east. Anywhere from Ontario to Newfoundland is far more economcal. Nova Scotia is amazing. City core is centered in the ocean. Again, clean air, clean province, and very nice people.
If your looking for trouble head to Windsor, Ontario or Toronto, Ontario. Oh, and while your at it be sure to visit Hastings Street in Vancouver. BC. Nasty area full of drugs and scum. Buy hey, whatever cranks ya!
But you won't be moving here without a VISA. Our country has cracked down on illegals.
Cheers! |
