Toronto is more like the New York of Canada. Very cosmopolitan, great film festival each year. The nice outings around are: Pentaguishe (tiny lake community), Niagara Falls (a little gambling and beautiful falls), and a short flight to Montreal - the little France that got away...
Vancouver is more like the San Francisco of Canada. Certainly more laid back, more scenic, more hiking, more breath taking scenes. In the winter, close to skiing and hiking and more outdoor experiences.
Both are great choices and you can't go wrong. If you're look for more of a mellow place, choose Vancouver, something a bit more cultural, go to Toronto. |

Toronto. I lived there for a year way back in 1981 and it was absolutely brilliant / fantastic I can only imagine what it's like today.
Go for it. |

Toronto.
At least it close for you to go to Montreal and Quebec City, which I add you must visit.
Toronto you can visit the CN Tower, zoo, CNE (summer), entertainment district (clubsgirls), a tonne of scottishirish pubs, hockey games (winter)....etc.
Visit Niagara falls as well.
Lots of shopping if you are into it.
Visit Chinatown, Front Street, Little Italy, Little Portugal, Koreatown, Greektown....it would be more fun if you come in the summer.....
You will love it here! |

As a Toronto Native I would have to advise you to choose Vancouver over Toronto any day. There are many drawbacks to living in Toronto. |

I would fly to Toronto first, do the falls, dont pick the posh hotels others are just as good, go b/b, then travel, either via rail or greyhound bus etc,do Calgary jasper, Banff (stopping off thse places enroute to Vancouver),Van is superb,
If you travel to Nova Scotia you fly to Halifax, its like scotland and has some super history good luck Canada is a super country, so huge one cannot see it in a few weeks, I wish you all the best in your travels The Canadians are really friendly I shall be flying back there again next year. |

I have only been to Vancouver, but I loved it. There is such a contrast of climates within a short distance, snow on the mountains, and such a magnificent coastline, with the lumber floated down the river sometimes getting stranded, and becoming beach furniture. From an outdoor pursuit point of view, there is nowhere better. The climate is similar to Devon and Cornwall at Pacific level. I think it was Alan Whicker who said it was one of his favourite cities, because it had everything.
Your choice may be affected by the type of work you are hoping to get. I don't know what employment prospects are there now. There is a certain amount of tourism, and the city centre no doubt offers opportunities. |

Business wise Toronto would be the best place. It is homebase for the Toronto Stock Exchange, most major banks and businesses have their head offices there. The only drawback is the cost of living there. Vancouver is nice if you like warm weather. I am not sure of what business opportunities are available there. |

I have lived in both cities, and I can tell you honestly, that Vancouver is stunning. It is a very booming place to live and grow. More and more people are moving there that I know personally. What's not to like about being so close to those beautiful mountains and glorious shoreline. On the second hand, Toronto has a big city feel completely different from Vancouver ( vancouver has a lot of british influence in it's makeup). It is the hub of many international cultural festivals, and the population is aswell growing rapidly - and the cost of living is cheaper then the west coast. As much as I'd hate to say it, as someone who has been born and raised close to Toronto - Vancouver has my vote. |
