You will have plenty of time to learn about Canada from various websites on the Internet, as it will take as long as two years to process your immigration papers. Here is one site that is very informative...

Good luck. |

One of the most basic differences is that the population of Canada is 90 percent SMALLER than that of the USA. Ergo not nearly as much population congestion, and therfore less feeling of being " crowded against each other"
Canada has a more relaxed attitude about " money " and we generally don't kill each other to make a buck. LIving well is the idea, not trying beat the "Jones " in the race to have more stuff.
Our national budget is not dominated by military spending. Instead we spend the most money on universal health care, and right behind that is education, at all levels..Universities in Canada don't offer sports scholarships, not even for hockey, BUT we do offer scholaships for bright students, who will become our leaders of tomorrow. There are no private Universities in Canada, they are all publically owned and we all suppoort them thru our income taxes.
Some people here have talked about "free health care " It is NOT free, we ALL pay for it thru our personal income taxes AND thru Provincial taxes on things like alcohol, gasoline and tobacco, all of which go towards operating our hospitals and pay our Doctors. Our health care system is "universal " which means that no one is going to be "denied coverage " as long as they are a Canadian citizen or a legal immigrant to Canada.
Compare that to the US system.

London isn't a bad place to live, very confusing streets and very much a college town during the year (not in a bad way, jsut saying that the summer can be a lot less people in the town). Schools are great here. It is different from the US in so many ways....I love it, I wouldn't live anywhere else. Free health care, great schooling (especially when it comes to the price of post secondary about 1/4 of the price of US colleges) The weather is good in London, it can get cold in the winter but being in southern ontario region it's not too bad. The summers are gorgeous, you're not too far from cottage country and wasaga beach for day trips/weekend trips. You're close to Toronto, Niagara on the Lake and Niagara Falls for some GREAT sight seeing. All 3 are within an hour and a half of you so you can easily do any of them for the day.
If you want ANY more information please feel free to email me. I'd love to help you |

I really like Vancouver, BC myself.
It's a little chilly and rainy but is quite beautiful. |

Superficially very similar however not in real life. When we get sick and go to the doctor or hospital we show our health card not our credit card. If and when we have to move to a nursing home we don't lose our homes to pay for it, our Old age pension covers the cost. Our weather isn't really much different than that of the northern U. S. Our schools from elementary school through high school, college and/or university are first rate. London, Ontario where I live is a very attractive city, lots of parks, playgrounds, libraries, first rate hospitals, an excellent university, the University of Western Ontario which is often referred to as the Harvard of the North. |
