Canada... underdog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... |
as what i observed... canada is underdog in terms of popularity... because in CNN... there are ZERO reports about Canada... does it mean... there are no valuable news for this country????
example; during CNN weather forecast... there are no canadian city reflected!!!! damn those writers of CNN... if you fot to know 1, kick his ***!!!! Additional Details I'm so happy, that it makes a lot of users to answer my question. I'm sorry if i got to bother some of you... anyway, I'm Filipino and living in the Philippines... And we don't have CBC here... only BBC and CNN...
I think there is a so called- CNN Canada...hmmmm??
And not only US, though New York City i thought is the based of CNN, it has a satellite news in London, or Tokyo...
Example... i'm pretty aware of the GLOBAL FINANCIAL CRISIS... hence, i don't here anything about my dear canada... its africa, europe, asia and the UNITED STATES who are always been flashing on the news...
The hell i care about New York Stock Exchange plunging trillions of dollars a day,,, it's enough for the United States..
Go Canada! |

Give your head a shake! Just about any other national tv news in the world gives better international coverage than CNN. CNN covers stories important to Americans - if it happens to include some other country you can bet your sweet bippy that it has an American slant or it would not be there. I have seen internationally important Canadian stories on the BBC and on SABC 1 just as I see important international issues from all over the globe on Canadian tv. Seems to me, we are among the leaders, not the underdogs.
Do you really want people who do not even know where Canada is to be giving our weather reports? Better to trust your Aunt Mabel's arthritic hip for that.
I can see it now

Here is your Canadian weather coming to you from CNN
.
The temperature has risen in the Canadian Mountains this winter causing huge avalanches in both Regina and Saskatoon. The ski resorts here have been forced to shut down until the threat is over.
In Halifax, residents are experiencing the warm south winds that have residents continuing to use their umbrellas this winter.
Meanwhile in Winnipeg, the nations capital, politicians fight the black ice up to Parliament Hill.
In Montreal, a far northern Inuit town, the entire town's population of 1000 braved the Arctic storms to protest something Canadian"

Man! Give your head another shake!
Here is a news Flash from KCNews - "The United States is the center of the universe" is an urban legend believed mostly by Americans.

Personally, I don't care if CNN fails to include Canadian cities in their weather forecasts. My sense of personal self worth is not attached to any American media.
Are there "...valuable news..." sites for Canada? Sure there are, just check out http://www.cbc.ca/news
Finally, why do you care what the US news has to say about Canada anyway? |

CNN is an American channel. Canadians don't go there for news,
Canadians have their very own TV channels! |

I agree with the above posters. A good chunk of americans do not even know where Canada is, so relaying our top stories would only confuse them. Besides, going by what is considered news worthy in the US, celebrity gossip, political smear campaigns, horrific violent crime......then no, we do not have any "valuable" news of that sort to report. |

I have pointed out that CNN weather thing out to some of my American friends, and they say that they had never noticed it before.
I put it down to an American attitude of " only America is important to us " .
As for Canadian news stories. When I travel in the USA, I use the Internet to read Canadian newspapers online. I can also listen to Canadian radio stations, on the Internet, from anywhere in the world.
To answer your question directly.
Canada is not an underdog .

Hey, George Dubya didn't even bother to mention Canada in his speech after 9/11, so why would CNN mention us? Who needs it anyway, we know who we are and do not need validation. |

No I read the news from several sources and funny enough Canada does get mentioned by international sources HOWEVER the American media and by extension the American people do far to much navel gazing have gone from the envy of the world to see that they are the laughing stock of the world. How long does an election take?
Jay Leno on one of the Jay Walking segments showed the worse cases where people couldn't even recognise their country on a map. Rick Mercer on his special "Talking to Americans" again worst case only shown for TV American people were positively clueless |

Actually CNN does have the occasional report about Canada.. if it has anything to do to affect the USA, they usually report it... or if it's a human interest story that Americans could be bothered to watch.
It's like up here, you won't here very many American stories on CBC unless it directly affects us (ie: American economy stagnating, Americans electing a psycho president).
If you're looking for news about Canada, wouldn't it be logical to search within a news provider in Canada, and not America? Just a thought. |

I'm Canadian and we don't care about CNN or any other US news, they hate Canada bc they're jealous of our freedom and healthcare and bc the world loves us and hates them |

Why not watch the CBC? Each nation/country has news based on itself. If you go to Japan and watch the news (other than the language barrier) you wil likely notice - not much about Canada. CNN is not biased - it is a US station. Would you go to the UK and get upset that they don't show the weather forecast for Canada on the BBC? Why not get angry about something that makes sense rather than bash the US yet again for something so minor - not very creative on your part.
And why the petty - "Americans care only about themselves" attitude from so many? Anyone who takes a comedy show like Jay Leno as fact is rather sad. Smart people don't make for funny TV now do they - figure it out. Small minds embrace broad stereotypes - So who exactly is the self reverential and biased nation here? |
