We're not extra terrestrials, we generally listen to the same things as Americans.

The polls I have seen show that the majority of us Canadians favor Rock Music, followed by R&B, Country Music, and Rap. But most of the people I know (me included) listen to more then one type of music.

We listen to the same music as they do everywhere else in the world.

Trust me I'm Canadian and I've lived in Japan, France, Canada (of course) and I have many friends from all over the world and we pretty much know the same songs.

Although Canada is such a big country preferences can occur per region. For example when I lived in Calgary Alberta I noticed that people seemed to have a thing for Country music more than any other provinces. Ontario is so diversified that anything goes. I now live in Quebec and lots of people here listen to french music.

We do all love our Canadian artists and you might know them as well:

Avril Lavigne
Nelly Furtado
Feist
Alanis Morissette
Arcade Fire
Sam Roberts
54-40
Shania Twain

I also posted la link to the top 100 Canadian songs of all time.

Hope this helps!

We have pretty well every kind of music here. It's not like Canadians all listen to the same thing. There are lots of good bands and songwriters in Canada. Rock is popular and there is a healthy folk music scene. Some regions have their own kind of sound, for example fiddle music is popular in the North and in the Maritimes. Lots of Celtic influence there. You can find lots of Canadian music on Youtube, for example if you enter a search for Canadian bands. Blue Rodeo is one I like a lot, and I think they have a very Canadian sound, whatever that is exactly.
