Canadian Immigration is a joke? |
My wife is awaiting 1st stage approval of her permenate resident while staying in Canada on a tourist visa. First they (CIC) says it would take 3 months, then they say 6 to 7 months, then they say 7 to 8 months, then 8 to 9 months and now they say 9 to 10 months! how many of you find this ridiculous? hiow many of you have gone through this BS? It is stuff like this that makes me wanna renounce my Canadian citizenship. |

Before you renounce anything Erni, maybe you can ask yourself just how long it would take you to get a permanent resident approval in your wife's country. Last I heard it was 7 years here in Taiwan. I have gone through BS of another nature too long to list here. If you ask me, you are almost giving up too soon...10 months is nothing! |

don't renounce actually the system isn't that bad compared to other countries, in America it can take up to 15 yrs, just hang in there and keep rattling their chains. |

Show a bit more patience, mate.
It takes at least 14 months to get PR.
I am talking from experience. Cheers |

It took 13, 14months for me.
I know it's a long process, and sounds like everytime when you talk to them they say something different, 3months, 6months, 9months..... So probably they'll tell you 12months next, you think? But I've been through that frustrating time and now I am a Canadian resident. So just be patient for little longer, and good luck for you and your wife! |

Do you honestly believe that the faster you get citizenship the better and safer the country is (they don't just let anyone live here anymore since 9/11). You have to realize that they just don't give your spouse citizenship just because you married her (your word just isn't enough) and even if your a Canadian Citizen.
To become a Canadian citizen entails a lot of corresponding and paperwork and approval from BOTH countries. It is not just one phone call, fill in some paperwork and finally a stamp of approval, it all takes time and if both countries are not on the same page it will just take that much longer. Canada Immigration can only go so far without the other countries co-operation and it usually takes a lot of time to get all the necessary information and approval. For them to say three months is unrealstic, it all depends on the country and how efficient they are (one to two years is more likely). If that is too long by all means move to hers , most likely you'll be waiting even longer ( most countries don't like foreigners).
Personally I would rather live in a country that takes their time and are thorough in approving citizenship, there are just way too many undesirables in this country already, we can't afford anymore. |

Why don't you try to become a citizen in her home country and tell us how easy it is compared to Canada. That she is on a tourist visa and living here while waiting or permanent residence is suspect to me and I would think it is to Canadian Immigration also I do not know how long you have been married or if you just became married when she arrived but this will probably have some bearing on the process also. As far as renouncing your Canadian citizenship I'd make sure you are allowed to live in her country before making to big a jump. |

renounce it if you dont like it. you try to make that sound like a threat to everyone but it will only be you who is upset. if our country is such a "joke" to you than why do you want to come here? stay where you are if you are going to say things like that about this country. |
