Canadian Vacation Ideas?

I've been to Vancouver once, and it was only for a day, but I really enjoyed my time there. I would like to see more of Canada; it seems like a nice mix of urban areas and wilderness. Any ideas on a neat Canadian vacation, preferrably something outdoorsy and natural? Of course, some place easy on the wallet would also be nice. Oh, and do I need a passport to go (sorry if this is a silly question, but I don't travel much).

Nova Scotia ...some beautiful nature areas along the Lighthouse Trail, Bay of Fundy and Cape Breton.

Alberta - Banff and Jasper
Saskatchewan - Waskesiu

I would recommend touring the maritime region of Canada. Newfoundand, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

New Brunswick has Fundy park, hopewell rocks, the reversing falls in Saint John. St Andrews is always gorgeous.
In Northern New Brunswick is Mt Carleton, or head more east and go to Miscou island and shippagan.

The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton NS.

Travel the Alaska highway, it's awesome. I think the most beautiful place in the world is Muncho Lake Provincial Park.

I've been to several areas all over Canada - my absolute favorite is Nova Scotia to which I have visited several times - - so many interesting places to visit and things to do. If you want mix of wilderness and urban, it is my vote! Especiallly all kinds of hiking and waterfalls in Cape Breton - lots of music -great seafood - the people are very friendly. Be sure to take the Cape Breton full drive, Fundy Bay, and Lunenburg for sure! Halifax is where you would fly in - (large city) but as you get further out the scenery is beautiful and smaller towns. Yes, you would need a passport. There are nice campgrounds of all types if you are in to that - I am, even at age 61, but lots of affordable places to stay.

Vancouver Island, BC. Traveling to Whistler, interior of BC, through the Okanagan and Kamloops area, Manning Park is a great place to camp, the birds and deer come right up to you, you can rent a canoe and paddle through the 3 lakes to the glacier. Take a drive up to Sun Peaks. Do a winery tour in the Okanagan. Spend some time at Shuswap lake, go to Captains Marine there and rent a sea-do, do some beach time.

Camping is a cheap way to go

newfoundland is a wonderful place to visit... if you like hiking, Gros Morne Nat Park is there... if you like sand, there are lots and lots of beaches there... i am partial to Sandy Cove, Bonavista Bay, beach... that's where i grew up... it's just east of gander, nf and a wonderful place to visit... there is also terra nova national park which is very close to sandy cove and has a wide range of activities to do... if you would like to check out sandy cove and its surrounding areas, log on to www.roadtothebeaches.com ... lots of pics... also www.eastport.ca

you need a passport... sorry, it's more complicated to travel to canada now...

also, if you like the mountains... banff national park in alberta is very scenic but full of tourists and and be quite expensive

good journeys to you :D

I hear that Newfoundland is one of the nicest places to visit in Canada for it's natural beauty and friendly people, however I believe it is a bit expensive to vacation there but I also heard people say it was well worth it. once they went they said they continue to visit every year because they loved it so much.
