Canadian dollar vs US dollar?
Drove to Vancouver for three hours from Seattle and was surprised that the exchange rate is almost equal for these two currencies. Are Canadians happy about this?
Dunno where you guys are getting your info but the Canadian dollar is worth more than the american dollar, and has for a week or so..
I say yippeeee...first time in my life ...but I also don't really care...lol...I'd like to travel down to the states for fun and shopping but don't have any plans to do that anytime soon :(
I'd say that it is great, if we start to see prices go down, but unfortunately Canadian consumers have not seen that happen yet.

I'm not Canadian, but for the life of me I can't understand why on earth Canadians would be happy that their dollar has become stronger with their largest trading partner. The only thing I can think of is that they don't teach economics in Canada.
The US is Canada's largest export market. 25% of the Canadian economy relies on exports to the US. Canadian exports are now more cosltly than similar products made in the US or China or Japan (Europe is a different story since the Euro is also strong). This translates into less business for Canada and less jobs for Canadians.
The major exception is oil. If you are an oil worker in Alberta, $90.00 a barrell oil out trumps a strong loonie.

Who cares they are Canadians. And one US dollar is equal to 0.97625 in Canadian dollars so about $.97
