Sweetie, you're meant to live in Montreal, we have a gay village downtown, gay-pride parade, people are very liberal (live and let live). In the Province of Québec you could be married to a monkey and people wouldn't look twice.
Not the same out west, people over there are more conservative, in terms of fashion they're about 10 years behind. No not everyone speaks French..mainly in Québec, many in New-Brunswick, a few (500,000) in Ontario and the rest of Canada doesn't speak French enough to show on a statistic spreadsheet. |

It's a good time if you can handle a bit of cold and a bit of snow.
Lots of jobs, cool people from all over the world come here. And our natives don't have it so bad. They don't even pay taxes for God's sakes. |

Canada is a great country!
French is the prdominant language in the province of Quebec only.
Gays enjoy more freedoms and less discrimination than any other parts of the world. Some cities like Toronto and edmonton have Gay Pride Week endorsed by th Mayor & Council. |

Covering most of the northern part of the North American continent and with an area larger than that of the United States, Canada has an extremely varied topography.Canada is a federation of ten provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan) and three territories (Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut). Formally considered a constitutional monarchy, Canada is governed by its own House of Commons. While the governor-general is officially the representative of Queen Elizabeth II, in reality the governor-general acts only on the advice of the Canadian prime minister.English and French are the official languages of all federal government institutions in Canada but not all Canadians speak french. |

Many Canadians speak a little French since we pretty much have to study it in school, but outside of Quebec, New Brunswick, northern Ontario and a few scattered areas in the west you might not hear any French from one year to the next.
In large cities people generally barely even notice who's gay and who's not, much less care about it. You might encounter more problems in a small place. |

Canada is pretty bloody amazing.
Its very cold, right now there must be at last 1 meter of snow I hadn't shoveled from last nights snow fall. But the environments great. But, it depends where you want to live, living in Toronto is the funnest thing. And no we don't all speak french. But in schools its mandatory for you to learn French through your elementary years so most citizens whom have grown up here such as I know french, but Quebec is roundly famous for French, because it was first inhabited by the French in the early 1900 hundreds.
Well there's people who discriminate against gays, but an area in downtown Toronto is where most of the gays/lesbians live. Its pretty cool. :) anyways the people are nice here depending on whom you like to be friends with.
Hope you like Canada when you see it one day.
Good luck mate. |

It should also be noted that French is also spoken a lot in the Maritime Provinces. But the Maritime provinces have a lot of influence from their Celtic roots. So their accents may be closer to yours. In bigger cities you may find that discrimination is much less, ie Toronto and Montreal. Also, you should note that Canada is very different- meaning you cannot say that it is just one thing and that the people are all a certain way. Multiculturalism makes us all different. But over all Canadians tend to be "nice and polite"... Compared to other countries. I hear that a lot anyway. Ask more questions if you like! We'll answer! |
