Canadians How Do You Feel When Jon Stewart from the Daily Show Mocks Canada?

This video is from a recent episode, it is not about Canada, but at one point Stewart says I don't think Canada has any missles of any range.

Anyway how do you feel that Americans think that Canada has no army or missles and depends on the United States for military help/support.

Sorry, who's John Stewart?

Smokey
Sweeping generalizations for answers. America and Canada are wonderful partners. Many people who live in my part of the U.S. have descendants, maybe a generation or two, removed from Canada. I'm proud that my mother was a Canadian by birth. Canada and the U.S. fit under the protective umbrella of NATO and other treaties that protect both countries. John Stewart, et al, make their money by cracking insensitive jokes about anything; nothing's sacred anymore. John Stewart doesn't know conclusively what Canada's military might is, neither do most Canadians and Americans. So I would just take his comments with a grain of salt.

I don't think Jon Stewart dislikes Canada.
You have to remember growing up in America, everything he has learned has been slanted to make America look good. Speaking of military, Canadian soldiers are dying in Afghanistan right now because of 9/11. When has there been a time in history when American soldiers died defending Canada? Never. They died attacking during the War of 1812. So, we are better than they are.

I couldn't care less what Jon Stewart (or anyone else) has to say about Canada. My sense of self is more than strong enough to deal with such playground noise.

I could not care less about what Jon Stewart has to say, and what the american public, in general thinks about Canada.
I don't know when it is we have ever depended on the US for military help, as we have never been invaded. In fact, the Canadian military trains the US special forces........but I am sure a good majority of the american peoples do not know that. If they would like to remain ignorant, basing their opinions on a late night comedy show, then there is not much some education about their biggest trading partner is going to do. So there you have it. Ignorance doesn't mar what I feel about my own country, one bit.

I love Jon Stewart.

Like many Canadians, I have a good sense of humour and I can laugh at myself too.

I am also proud of our tradition as peace-keepers. Please tell us about all the times we have needed your protection. When we sent our troops to Afghanistan it was to help & support the US.

Some Americans seem to believe that since we sit on your Northern doorstep, we are automatically under some umbrella of protection but many Canadians worry that we will one day suffer for being too close to you.

Meh. I neither care nor feel like I should.

.
Jon Stewart's jokes about Canada are not funny.

Michael Moore made a movie about Canada. Now THAT was funny!

tuppenybitz
why should anyone care what americans think?

how do americans feel when the rest of the world are not fond of them?

same thing why should anyone care what other countries think

canada and its people are wonderful

I'm Canadian and watch Jon Stewart Religiously and when John Stewart mocks Canada I don't care and laugh out loud because he is a Comedian. I'm personally proud that we aren't a country who likes war and would never need America to protect us because NOBODY HATES US like they hate the USA. And don't forget history, the only time our countries ever had a war against each other, we won and watched the white house burn.

kenoplayer
It's been my experience that when people mock others, it is because of jealousy. So, I take Stewarts's mockery as a compliment.

petey
look we already know that americans hate Canada, there's 2 groups that hate Canada, americans and the taliban...everybody else loves Canada and Canadians...so we just consider where it's coming from and laugh at u ...the US does not provide miltary support for Canada, in fact u are our only threat, Canada is part of the British Commonwealth, that's our allies in defence

Bird Flippin' expecting #2
He mocks Canadians, we mock Americans. Except we don't bomb and invade countries that mock us, we laugh with them.

I'm not offended by it and neither are the majority of people I know who watch Stewart. Its just a joke. I hope people realize he's playing on Americans concepts of Canada, nothing more. As long as he isn't very rude I won't be upset. It seems like the same type of humour as "Blame Canada" and "Canadian idiot"

I think the guy is a hoot, and I laugh when he cracks jokes about Americans, and I laugh when he cracks jokes about Canadians. I don't take offense.
