This is a generalization, but for the most part, the overall Canadian mindset is "Live and let live". Don't bother soemone else and they won't bother you. The American mindset tends to be "Live like us or we'll shoot you". OK, slight exageration there, but we in Canada don't see the need for the agressive posturing of our southern brother. Here it's pretty much do whatever you want, just don't hurt anyone else while do it. And for the record, we did have a school shooting in Montreal a couple years ago. Horrible thing. There are crackpots everywhere.

francois
Unfortunately, we also had school shooting. The two biggest ones were Montreal's Polytechnic 20 years ago (15 dead) and recently Dawson's College, last fall (2 dead,19 injured).

Gun control is way tougher than in the US.

Thankyou.

Unfotunately we did have a school shooting at a college in Montreal last year though.

Canada has much stricter gun control laws than the US. We do not have the right to bare arms.

Hope you do get across the border for a visit.

We have had school shootings in Canada. I think it was in one of the western provinces - maybe Alberta? Sorry I can't remember.

But...of course we're nice and we'd always love to have you for another visit!! :) There is so much diversity here, it's a great place to live!

We do have some gun accidents once in a while, but keep in mind there's a lot less people in Canada than the USA, so we have a lot less of everything. It is however true that weapons are harder to get here than in your country.
