Canadians!!!!help me!!!!!?

can any canadian please help me, my friend and i are having a big debate about benefits in canada. if you have children that stay with you , do you recieve child benefit? in the uk we recieve a small amount of money every month the help with the cost of bringing up children. do you have something similar in canada.

If they are YOUNG children, there is a small cash benefit paid to the one looking after the children. (Young, in this case, means under the age of 12.)

This is true in all provinces and territories, I believe (not sure what the age range is for British Columbia and Alberta).

The benefit is considered taxable income - and you would be required to pay income tax on it at year's end.


Stuck in the middle of nowhere
In Ontario you get a child tax credit, but it is based on income I get $22 a month, wowee. then there is the Universal Tax credit and it is $100 a month.

It is called Child Tax Credit..and it's not that small ..it's about $200 per child a month until they are 18? or quit school? Someone help me out please!

Yes. In Ontario, they call it Baby Bonus. It's a a small amount of money that one can get each month for a child.

Yes, there is something called a Baby Bonus and there is also a Mother's Allowence.
