Canadians,is it true that Quebec is a new country?

Did Quebec separate and become a country on its own? Apparently it did because if you look at the bottom of this page "Answers International" it has all the countries including the "country" of Quebec. When did Quebec become a country?
Additional Details
"maybe" Yes but the "espanol" has the American Flag. If you want to go by that then Quebec should have the Canadian Flag. Its the principal of it all.

Quebec is a PROVINCE, not a country....Canada is a bilingual country with English and French as two official languages however Quebec is the only Canadian province with a predominantly FRENCH speaking population and the only one whose sole official language is french at the provincial level....in Canada, every province has its own FLAG....Quebec has a flag....and so does Alberta, Prince Edward Island, Ontario, Saskatchewan etc........click on the link below to see all the provinces, territories and their flags :)

I can always count on Yahoo U.S. asking the stupidest questions about Canada. Honestly I think that Americans have such a disregard for Canada that they don't even realize how stupid they sound asking questions like this.
Quebec is a province in Canada and the largest one.
Yahoo probably did this because Quebec is french and the rest of Canada is english, so this way Quebec can have its own news for cultural reasons.

Quebec is still a province of Canada.

For some reason, Yahoo, amongst many other websites, believe that "Quebequois" is really that much different from French. Therefore, they gave them their own icon. Though technically, it could have given it the title of Canadian French, like American Spanish (american flag).

Another reason why they might have given Quebec their own icon is because the Quebequers have been demanding their independance to the rest of Canada, and Yahoo seems to recognize the movement. That is all.

NOTE: If it had seperated, it would have made world news...
Hopefully that will never happen. Quebec is an important part of Canada for various reasons.

Oy. Am I the only one who checks to see if a question has already been asked before I ask a new version of it? Apparently so.

Quebec is a province with in Canada. That being said, since the majority of people speak French in Quebec, it makes sense that they have their own section. And why should they not be able to use their provincial flag as the symbol? If Ontario were to ask for their own section, I am sure we would like to use our provincial flag as well........

I live in Quebec, and although it is not a country, most people who live here act as if it was. Sorry if I hurt anyone feelings but they are f@##g annoying with their "national" this and "national" that. Just like a bunch of spoiled brats, we have different laws, different everything.
But, other than the political part, Quebec is a great PROVINCE to live in.

I see where you're going with this.

But sadly, and this will sound very arrogant... as a Westerner in Alberta... I could care less if Quebec was its own country. Quebec would have the same relevance to me as a separate country as it does a province in my country.

At least if they did separate Albertans wouldn't have to pay so much in equalization.

I have nothing against Quebec. I do have a problem when the politicians from Quebec try to sway Ottawa to kneel to Quebecois interests.

This is probably the 6 thousandth time someone asked this question and its getting on my nerves!!!

NO! quebec isnt a new country its like that because they speak french!

JuanB
That's odd, on mine it says Answers International. It does have a Quebec button, for French Canadian language and content. But it also has "America en Espanol" content and I can see that this doesn't mean American Spanish have separated from the US.

Edit: lol - I didn't copy other answers. Just came up with the same point at the same time.

Maybe???

Quebec is a province of Canada; it is NOT a country.
It has not separated from the rest of Canada.
A few years ago the Conservative government gave Quebec the status of 'a nation within Canada'. This does not mean that it is a country; rather it is more like the aboriginal peoples(native indians) who also have the status of 'nation'.

Also, if you look carefully, you will find an American flag with the words en espanol next to it. You don't think that 'en espanol' is a country too. do you?

It is not a country.

If you click on it you end up on Yahoo France anyway so what's the big deal? We have a different language, culture, way of thinking and a lot of people in the world are interested into the Québécois. If the Albertans were as unique as the Québécois are then maybe they would also have their own flag down there.
