Al Gore has nothing to do with Canada. Canada does not depend on the US for electricity, as a matter of fact, Manitoba, for instance, sells incredible amounts of electricity to the US. The US depends on Canada for oil, we are the single largest supplier of oil the US has. |

Not true. Al Gore is an American politician and environmental activist, but he has no control over Canadian power companies. Hydro Quebec and other power companies in Canada actually sell their excess electricity to many US cities, including Buffalo, Chicago, and New York. If anyone wanted to shut off power as you say, Canada could potentially do it to some US cities.
As for our school grading system, that has changed many times over the years. When I was in grade school, all the marks were A thru F. Then when I went to high school and college, it was in percentages from 0-100%. The college I went to also had a special value (something like "DNF") which meant the student did not finish the course and did not qualify for its points towards graduation.
Perhaps you should question your friend a bit more as to why he thinks these things about Canada. Like where does Al Gore flip the switch to cut off power to Canadians? What does the R mean for a school mark? Why does Al only cut off power for 3 hrs, and if he does that, is that daily, weekly, monthly or yearly?
I think the more you question him and the answers he gives, plus if he often looks up and to his left instead of at you when answering, you may be able to figure out if he is telling the truth or making things up. (People who lie and are not good at it will often consult the creative "right" side of their brain instead of stored memories, and so they look up and to the left (to your right when looking at them). |

Your friend is pulling your leg. Al Gore has nothing to do with Canada's power - in fact, much of the US power comes from Canada, and if Canadians wanted, they could quite easily shut off the power to the US. And it sounds as though your friend has never set foot in a Canadian school, because there is no such mark as 'R'. That's what they put on movies to indicate it is restricted. |
