You would be welcomed with open arms. Many many Canadians have deep Scottish roots, especially in the Maritime Provinces. Did you know that more people speak Gaelic in Cape Breton than in Scotland. Being first generation Scottish I have no problem understanding any Brogue whether from Glasgow or Edinburgh. |

New Brunswick has many Scots and Scottish descendents. Just the place names - Scotch Ridge, St. Andrews, Scotch Settlement, tell you how much influence the Scots have had here. Rabbie Burns Day, St. Andrews Day banquet (haggis included), Highland games and Highland dancing are all popular. Scots have always been popular, and I have no trouble understanding them. |

I'm part Scottish myself, and though at times it's hard to understand Scots, I can mostly get what they are talking about.

Most of the Canadians who are noted for their inventions are originally from Scotland.
