i see the Queen as a figure-head as a Brit does. The day Her Majesty dies i will as much sorrow and sadness as a Brit. She's a symbol. and i think in this day and age, that's what she's meant to be.
I like knowing that there is a Queen or King of Canada and i would never want the title Queen/King of Canada taken away. It's an important part of This countries history

I quite like Her Majesty. Her son is another matter altogether though. I sort of hope the crown bypasses him in favour of William who I like a lot.
I'm in my 60s and I am amazed at how ignorant of the system Canadians have become. It's one thing to dislike her or her position. It's another not to even know that the position even exists. Not a positive pronouncement of our educational system, is it? A sad state of affairs! |

I'm kind of embarrassed that the Queen is our Head of State. I mean at least the US revolted against Britain. As for us, they just kind of said "we don't really want you anymore form you own country!"
I think its time for a constitutional change and get rid of the Queen and her reps (the Governor General and Lieutenant General). We waste too much tax dollars on them!
I may be wrong but doesn't the GG have the power to refuse a dissolution of parliament? I mean convention has it that they usually do as told but I think its happened once in history. Someone who is appointed should have to power to overrule someone elected! |

Well, I must first point out that Canada does not have a Queen, we have a Prime Minister. Yes, we belonged to the British Commonwealth, but we are an independent country, so the Queen is not in charge. I really do not hold any opinions on the current Queen of England, as I really do not know all that much about her. She's pretty far away over there in England, and rarely puts in an appearance here in Canada. |
