Denied entry to Canada? |
In febuary of 08 i flew to canada to visit my girlfriend. while i was there we decided for me to stay for a while longer then planned. ended up turning into 7 months and some change. But while i was there I was offered a job legaly threw an LMO required in canada, all i needed to do was take the drive to the border and come back threw. Found out i over stayed and the immigration officer told me that he could have banned, deported ect.. me from ever coming back. We were devistated stupidity on our parts yes. but he told me that i could cross back over in in return prove that i have enough money to substain myself till my first check. Well, the job is no longer in the picture nor me living up there. So my question is. How am i going to be recieved at the airport if i chosse to fly back with a round trip ticket and the intention of returning in 2 weeks. I now know what i did was stupid and not intentional. And i dont ever plan on doing it again. What are the odds of re-entering. |

You may not be able to come back to Canada, but one does not know until you ask. Phone Border Services in Canada and ask them, they will be able to tell you a whole lot more then we can here on Y/A.
I do know that in order to satisfy their question that you are going to return back to the US after your 2 week visit having a lease/rental agreement, your return ticket home, as well as proof you are either going to school or have a job available, for them to see may or may suffice. You may even consider bringing your most recent bank statement just to be safe.
It is hard once you have been flagged in the system to prove to them that you are only going for a visit, it would not hurt to call the Border Services Agency and see what they recommend.
You could be refused entry under Non Compliance since you have been here before and overstayed and they take that pretty seriously. |

None.... unless you make arrangement with Canadian authority before hand. From their point of view, you have over-stayed and broke the law. You were illegal alien in their land. With a history like this, they will not permit you to enter again.
We, Americans, tend to see immigration violations as "not a big deal" but this sentiment is not shared by other governments. What you did wasn't only 'stupid' (by your own admission) but it was criminal.
Contact the Canadian authority and discuss this. You are already flagged in their database, regardless of if you enter from land, sea, or air.
Good luck. |

Ooo May Day!
|
u broke their rules, now they don't trust you
ur name is on the record and they are watching you
you can always get a new visa for a new visit and please follow it!
you won't be able to fly back roundtrip, cuz where you are going to that country, they will look at ur passport and ask where is ur visit permit visa to canada? u need a new one, cuz ur old one is expired! |

i would consider getting a visa next time to enter canada. it would make them happy you are trying to comply with entry laws and you will know before if you are wanted and or allowed there |

You've really shot yourself in the foot. You don't say where you came from originally, but try getting a visa this time, plus your return ticket, plus evidence that you have something to go back to - like a job in wherever you call home, or a house that you have bought or something that would more or less indicate that you are going to return. |

I think Stack888 has given you the best advice.
I have a friend who overstayed her student visa by several years and had to leave. She reapplied and was granted another Visa. Your name has probably been flagged at customs so don't just arrive here without contacting Border Services. It could be a big waste of Air Fare. |

there's a lot of scaremongering going on here.
You can quite legally overstay your visa limitation in Canada if you plan to apply for residency, such as by marrying or even living common law with your girlfriend. Not sure why you left the country and then tried to re-enter. Would have been easier just to stay in Canada.
However, perhaps you weren't ready to live with your girlfriend for another 5 months, I'm not sure. (you do know that you automatically become 'common law' when you live with your girlfriend for 12 months).
See Canada Immigration website link here about overstaying visa legally....
