Canada is a Gorgeous Country....imagine a country that stretches from jewel like cities on the sea to towering mountain ranges, few nations are as blessed with natural splendor or as dedicated to protecting it. 41 national parks boast millions of acres of unspoiled lands to explore, and spectacularly diverse cities provide thrilling culture, architectural beauty and European flavor from a heady mix of colonial British and French cultures dating back hundreds of years.

With a landmass second only to Russia, the sheer sprawl of Canada is astonishing. Divided into 10 provinces and 3 territories, Canada is bounded by oceans on three sides - the Pacific, The Arctic and The Atlantic. Thousands of miles of fascinating rugged coastline compete for attention with an interior that is just as intoxicating. For naturalists, ski buffs, outdoor sports enthusiasts and all who appreciate raw beauty, a trip through a least one of the national parks is required.

Two of the most exquisite are Banff and Jasper in Alberta's Canadian Rocky Mountains. Amid sprawling ice fields and glaciers, soaring 11,000 ft peaks put the U.S. Rockies to shame. Banff is a luxury skiing destination featuring glamorous resorts, numerous boutiques and great restaurants. One of Banff's treasures is Lake Louise, an arresting natural wonder with emerald waters and glaciers rimming the horizon. Known for amazing downhill skiing and hiking, the area has a fairy tale aspect and is magnificently beautiful. Nearby Jasper is prized by adventure travelers for its overwhelmingly wild and untamed feel. Captivated by its jutting snow caps and abundant wildlife, visitors find it's easy to wander miles without seeing soul, surrounded by big game like moose, elk and bears. For even more drama, at night you might see the Northern Lights, an unforgettable celestial display. Due north of Montana lies Calgary in Alberta, well known for its past Olympic hospitality. Though it pushes its Wild West past with various festivals and annual "Stampede," this city of glass sky-scrapers, corporations and oil money is filled with great neighborhoods and a serenely international outlook.

And don't forget Canada's marvelous cities. Not far from Toronto, Niagara Falls is an attraction everyone should see at least once. This awe inspiring site, and a trip to view the crashing waters on the venerable Maid of the Mist boat tour, is a must-see.

Those who want to delve into Canada's alluring French side must see 400-year old Quebec City, which is heavily French speaking. The city's gorgeous preserved architecture has led to its naming as a world heritage treasure by UNESCO. It's a fantastic walking city and the place to be is the charming old town with the Grand Allee, a major meeting spot with blocks of cafes, galleries, nightclubs and upscale boutiques.

Neat question. Here's my 2 cents:
There is nowhere else in the world that you can drive so far in one direction without having to pass through a border or show travel documents - over 3000 miles. By comparison, driving the same distance in Europe would take you from France to Afghanistan.

I have lived in Canda for thirty years and I love it here.

When I first arrived here, with my husband, three suitcases and a baby, I was 22 years old. We didn't know anybody but people were friendly and helpful and this country soon felt like home to us. We lived about 45 minutes outside Toronto for the first year and we loved the lush farming countryside close to Lake Erie.

We then moved to Northern Ontario where we lived for 4 years in a gold mining town. That was a rugged place to live with mile after mile of lakes, trees and rocks - vast and majestic spaces. We saw wolves, porcupines and Black bears, tall Jack Pines, beautiful unspoiled wilderness.

We now live near London, Ontario, and this is a gentler part of the country - dairy farms, sleepy villages, miles of corn fields, Amish and Mennonites in their horse-drawn buggies, farmer's markets, apple orchards, Fall Fairs. I love living here.

I have also travelled to the West Coast of Canada - to BC, which is beautiful. I think Vancouver is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and Vancouver Island is spectacular.

I have been to the East Coast too, which has its own charm, small towns, the people have a rugged, earthy attitude to life and a wonderful sense of humour.

Check out my website for my story at http://www.discover-southern-ontario.com/about-us.html and click your way around the site for lots of info about this area of South Western Ontario.

To Lovecrazydreams - it makes me sad to hear your story, but please remember that it is not your fault if you are born poor, BUT it is your fault if you live poor and die poor!

When I first came to this country we had nothing - my first job was cleaning houses, I have worked weekends and evenings, I have taken many night-classes, taken part-time University courses, worked at home, baby-sat hoards of kids over the years and now in my 50's I have my own businesses, a home that is paid for and a chunk of money in the bank.

As far as we know, we only get one trip on this ride called LIFE, so grab it with both hands and squeeze all the joy and happiness you can get out of it and truly LIVE!

haah some beautiful canada this is! i live next to a guy that just came out of jail, and a native family where they have bonfires ever night with aleast 25 people, and theres a guy behind my house that sell drugs, next to him theres a couple that buys drugs. i live in the getto cuz my parents couldnt afford anythiing else. i fall asleep to sirens. i wake up to that bloody loud dog. my father is an immagrant. my mother was abused as a child. sure there are moutain and fields, and fishermen and inuites, and FREE health care(but long line ups) and a wide range of weather tempatures. (which is annoying when one day its like -1 and then the next day its -49 with a blizzard warning.) but canada is a beautiful country. we have a leaf to represent our land. a red one to be exact! and our national bird is the mosquito. we go from ocean to ocean with moutain and praires between.
*sigh* canada is a great place to be!
