DKitty 154, just to interject on her comments is clearly over exaggerating.

I've lived in Toronto all my life. I recently moved to California because of my job and I miss Toronto, I'd be there in a heartbeat. In fact I'm going back there in 2 days!! Anyway the point is,

1.) You're going to have crime anywhere you go but Toronto is one of the safest places in the world. Sure there's a lot of things going on right now in the news, but we're pretty much a neutral country.
2.) Traffic is so much better there than it is here in California. You can get wherever you want in Toronto in 20-45 minutes max. I'm stuck in traffic in California for 2 hours at 7am in the morning!!
3.) Toronto, Canada is one of the most multicultural and diverse cities there are. We don't assimilate, you'll find every race and you're welcome to practice your own ethnicity freely.
4.) It does not smell. I mean c'mon!! You're in a city, near lake Ontario, it's busy, it's not as hectic as New York but it's what you expect in a city.
5.) It's still cleaner than most
6.) Rent is reasonable you just have to look.
7.) We have a fun night life and most of our clubs are along the same road
8.) Taxes are a bit high but you get universal health care, much better tuition costs for school, and you get to experience the 4 seasons.
9.) Winter can be cold but you get a white christmas!!, Summer and fall are one of the most beautiful seasons in my opinion and everyone is friendly.
10.) We don't live in igloos, we don't say ABOOT, we might say "eh" every once in a while and we definitely love hockey.

I don't know where else you'd want to live, but after my contract is up, I'm definitely going back to home. After all......there's no place like home and Toronto is it for me =) Good Luck!!

If you want to get out of the city and live in the suburbs, Mississauga is definitely a beautiful place to live. It's 45 minutes away from Toronto. I have a house there and it's the best of both worlds = quiet life + developing rapidly leaving everything you need at your fingertips.

If you want GOOD - you have it.
Toronto has more Churches than any other city on the Planet and it is ultra Boring.

A wonderful city, that is detoriating rapidly. Not in structure, but in human factor.

A disease of growth I suppose.

But, very cosmopolitan, very clean, very chic. Lots to do in any category.

But getting increasingly cold. This cold stays on year round, and not only for six months of winter.

That is too bad.

Toronto is Lone Ranger's side kick.
He is a native American belonging to the Dakota Nation.
He calls the Lone Ranger, "Kemo Sabe," which means horse's butt.
The Dakotas aren't exactly a good place to call home unless you're into hockey or lumber jacks.

Yeah, that's Toronto for ya *L*

I had the choice of moving to any city in the Western world after a travelling job and took a chance on Toronto.
I was a great decision. Every day is something new and it is one of the cleanest and friendliest large cities I've ever visited.

I still love seeing the CN Tower from anywhere in the city - it makes me smile.

Toronto is always have some big party or clelbration somewhere.
Give it a try!

I would never live there, to crowded, too expensive. Better to go more north of the city to live, such as Woodbridge, King City, or Aurora

it's a smaller and slower version of new york.....

I love it. Big city atmosphere, lots of interesting neighbourhoods (like Greektown, Chinatown, etc)... awesome shopping and TONS of restaurants and bars. Very cultured in a good way.

Despite some recent news attention on crime, it is generally low-crime compared to similar sized cities. Most of the crime happens in particular neighbourhoods which you should definitely avoid (Jane & Finch area comes to mind I think).

Beautiful place, lots to do, but crime rate is rising....

I live 4 hrs from Toronto and I hate the place.

First of all, it smells, and I'm not kidding! You'll be walking down the street and all of a sudden all you can smell is like crap! Its the sewers of course. Its a horrible smell.

If you take a look around Toronto you'll see it's not kept up very well. Unlike Ottawa which is kept very clean and tidy, Toronto has garbage.. everywhere!

Another thing is the traffic! Ugh! Its horrible. I've never seen any other city with more road rage!

The prices are nuts. Good luck trying to pay for rent.

Oh and should I mention the crime? Toronto has been having ALOT of problems with murders and shootings in the past year and a half. Look it up on the net. And now this new stuff about all the terrorists that were gunna behead the Prime Minister. Geeze. Trust me, not a place you wanna be. There has been a higher amount of kid nappings too in the past couple years. The crime rate alone would do it for me.

Someone couldn't pay me to live there!

Toronto's so great, I've dedicated My Space to it!

Check out the various photo albums to get 'the feel' of the place. If one picture is worth a thousand words, I've done a lot of 'talking' through my camera lense.

Toronto is an excelent city to call home. People are generally friendly, most everything you need is close at hand thanks to our mass transit system. We have so many diverse cultures available to sample through food and various events. Like any large city here in North America, there is crime, but it is nowhere near as bad as in other large cities. Overall, it's a great place which I am proud to call my home.
