Displaying of the National Flag of Canada

I am part Canadian and I wanted to hang a Canadian flag in my dorm room in college. I was wondering what some of the rules are for displaying the flag? I know that the maple leaf must have the points upward in horizontal displaying and pointing to the left in a vertical. Are there other rules that I should know about? I don't want to improperly display the flag.

The manner in which flags may be displayed in Canada is not governed by any legislation but by established practice.
If hung vertically, the flag should be placed so that the upper part of the leaf points to the left and the stem to the right from the point of view of the observer facing the flag. Flags hung vertically should be hung so that the canton is in the upper left corner.
The canton is the place of honour in a flag, the upper half of the hoist, or any quarter of a flag, but commonly means the upper hoist (left) quarter, such as the field of stars in the flag of the United States or the Union Flag in the Australian Flag.
It is egregious poor taste to use the flag of any nation as a window covering. Unfortunately there are many boors who flaunt that rule.

I think it is nice that you care - ignore Alice in Wonderland - she is apparently still there in Wonderland.

We could use a few more people like you who have some respect for themselves, their country and it's symbols.

Nice to see someone showing their flag from Canada. We really could use more people like you.
As long as the maple leaf is not upside down or the flag does not touch the ground your ok :-)

Just make sure it's not on fire.

Etiquette states that no part of the flag, any flag, should be touching the ground when it is hanging... and when it becomes tattered, it should be replaced. Nothing sadder than a flag that is weather beaten and shredded. That's all I can remember.

In Canada, you are allowed to sew the flag on your backpack if you want. so go right ahead and display it in whatever way you would like.

oh who cares!?!? nobody is going to care if you hang it the wrong way. that sounds pretty tacky anyway.
