Sure. I like them just fine.
Especially when some goofy American opens the door to jokes about Americans when he asks why we are not the 51st state and then gets mad at us having a little fun at his expense. The same holds true for:
When American's come across the border with a ton of winter clothes in June like there was a huge wall there that keeps the snow on this side right there at the 49th parallel.
When an American, hearing us speak English is totally amazed that we do.
When American's come up to Quebec in July with ski's on their cars looking for the nearest place where there is skiing.
When Americans learn that we do not live in igloos and teepees.
When American's come up here bragging about how much beer they can consume and remain sober and then get totally pi**ed on the first bottle of Molson's they drink.

I have to admit, even my warped sense of humour left me when some dude left a nasty note last week after learning that we would not appreciate his bringing his guns up here to protect himself. The rest of the world views us as primarily peace lovers and peace keepers so I found that a tad insulting.

Fear not! Most of us are pretty decent folks who judge individuals on their personality.I do not know for sure but my guess would be that most of us will probably have a party when GWB is out of the White House but I think most of us know the Average American is nothing like him. TDFSW (Thank God For Small Wonders)

It would be better I guess if you were laughing with us because it is far better to laugh than to fight. And because I do not see that that is going to change in the near future. It is a National Canadian pasttime that keeps us fit for all 12 months of shovelling snow and building igloos. Oops! Lost my head there. LOL

are you asking if we canadians like americans.?..

well the answer would be we take people as we find them ..no matter their nationality... if you are a good person the answer is yes... if your are not then the answer is no..

do we like america politically?
then the answer would be...some of us do...some of us don't...

do we like the physical country of america? then yes...

Im Canadian, and I don't hate the people in America. I don't like the American President and I would't want to be american for all the money in the world.

Canadians will like Americans on an individual basis.

But, as a people, Canadians generally have very little respect for Americans. American foreign policy sucks, America has economic policies that are unfair to Canadians, has unnecesarily (to our minds) caused stupid increases in security and has changed what was once the longest undefended border in the world. Americans have killed our troops in Afghanistan with friendly fire, have illegally held Canadian citizens without trial, and has shipped Canadian citizens to other countries rather than sending them home. America denies its children proper universal healthcare and thinks this is right, has inferior education on average, and is a major source of guns and gun crime in Canada. Due to their foreign policy America has become the largest danger to safety in Canada for simply being on the same continent - unfortuantely too few people from other countries know the difference between Canadian and American policies, for example Canada not supporting the war in Iraq, and Canada becomes a target simply by proximity.

Do we like Americans in general? Well, that's debateable, but we definitely don't respect them.

Some do, some don't. The American government's policies and actions do seem quite unpopular up here, at least among the people I know.

wahoo
I find it offensive when the government of the U.S refers to themselves as America, do they think that they are the whole land mass between the Atlantic ocean and the Pacific ocean. The Americas consist of many countries. United States of America is just a small part of the Americas. You got to wonder about a country that looks at themselves as he biggest best, and most important of two different continents and numerous countries. I don't mind allowing them the luxury of calling themselves Americans, but it is when they Say America is this, or America stands for this, or America does not allow that..How the Heck can they speak for the rest of America.

Man
Some do and some don't. USA-no. Individuals-as long as they aren't morons, yes.

Canada, as a country, likes all countries, including the states.
thats not to say you couldnt find a canadain who doesnt like americans but most do.

Canada is a very friendly nation. we try to help out different countries in any way we can (like for america our soilders helped out with the war) and we respect everyone.

however as a canadain i am shy to american because they think we live in iglos and have pet polar bears and put maple syrup on everything and all we care about is hockey and we say "eh?" alot and we pronounce about "aboot"

lol okay well to be honest i do say "eh" alot.

Leah
well i do....

but i don't know about the other 32,000,000 people in canada

Yes. Pros: nice people everywhere; beautiful country; great tourist destinations. Cons: a lot of uninteresting, humorless, super-religious, egotistical people; crime, bad government. Every country has its pros and cons, and America is great in lots of ways.

50/50.
Most people who "dislike Americans" generally don't like the government, not the people.
I personally like the US. There are a few States that I'd love to live in. (Cali, Ore, Wsh, Ten)
