It depends on your citizenship! If you are an American or a Canadian a passport is not YET required (see website) but passports ARE REQUIRED for citizens of other countries.

No,but when I flew to Canada a few years ago,everyone else had one and got right in.I didn't and had to answer a lot of extra questions.So it does make it easier.
You do still need proper ID,like a drivers license,and your birth certificate.

Same answer as Donavan above, but you wont need a passport for land border crossings till Jan 2008. Planes and boats will be Jan 2007.

once you are living your country for another the safest thing is to carry your passport it is a recognized form of id

No, you do not have to have a passport! Effective Jan. 2007, you will be REQUIRED to carry a passport to Canada and Mexico which currently is unescassary!

Not yet. birth cirtificate and any government picture id( drier's licence ) will do>but a passport is preferred
