Do I need a passport to travel through Canada?

I live in Michigan and want to go to Buffalo, New York. I dont have a passport but it is quicker for me if I drive through Canada

If you are driving you do not need a passport (until June 1, 2009), if you fly you would need one(effective Jan.23, 2007). Have a safe trip :)

As of right now you need a passport to fly into Canada but if you drive.walk accross you need just your ID. In a couple of years you will need a passport just to get in/

That is correct.. I drive thru from Port Huron to Buffalo often. But the waiting can kill you (border security) so I switched to driving under the Lake and that is 1 more hour of driving but more relaxing & easier I find..

I don't think so. We went into Canada many time without one. You might want to check now at a court house. I had to have a special picture take first which they do at a number of places now. You will need three kinds of identity to get a passport. You need a birth certificate, a drivers license and I believe a diploma from high school works. You can also use an identity card in place of a drivers license. There were other means of identity that work.

you need a passport to get from the US to Canada but once you are in Canada you dont need a passport to travel through the country.
