Do hotels/motels in Alberta Canada change sheets when new guests arrive? Or should we bring our own sheets?

A lot of reviewers of various hotels in and near Banff have complained about filthy sheets, stained towels and sheets, etc. When the guests ask for clean linens sometimes they get them, but sometimes not. Should we bring our own?
Additional Details
Thank you everyone for your answers. I certainly feel much better about this upcoming trip after learning your experiences. Alberta is more prosperous than I thought, definitely no longer "frontier" area. And, yes, some people can defame a business--makes me feel sorry for the employees who do try to give good service--so I'll try to remember that the next time I read (or write) a review.

Glad to hear about your travels in Alberta! Thanks again...

Sue

I have stayed at Banff and other vacation spots in Alberta including Calgary and Edmonton and never come across the problem you have identified. Unless it is a run-down facility I can not imagine this being a problem.

If this ever happened to me I would have ask for another room. If the did not do so I would call the local health department, lodge a compliant, refuse to pay and leave.

I have never heard of this before. If there is a problem with your room all you have to do is speak with the manager and they will fix the problem and either up grade you or offer you a discount. I have never seen dirty sheets or towels in a hotel room. We go to Banff about 3 times a year.
My favorite hotel is the Rimrock.

The motel I stayed in when I was in Banff (Now known as the Banff Aspen Lodge) was very nice, clean, and the staff friendly and helpful. The bedsheets and towels were ALWAYS changed on a daily basis for the week I was there.

If a hotel or motel refuses to give you clean sheets or towels, you should speak with the manager, or check out immediately and find a more reputable place. Image is everything to a hotel, and word-of-mouth or repeat visits are important to their business. In Banff especially, competition for the tourist dollars are high. There are hotels and motels on every corner there.

I have only ever had problems with one motel in Canada and that was in a small town in Ontario. When I went into the room, the window had been left open and the room was cold and the carpet/curtains were wet because it had been raining outside all that day. I went to turn on the lightswitch which had no faceplate, and the switch came flying out of the socket. Needless to say I did not put that one on my list of places to return to.

If in doubt about a hotel/motel's cleanliness, you may want to book with a chain, such as Delta Hotels, or Choice Hotels. That way, if service or cleanliness is an issue at the hotel, you can complain to the main offices and that hotel may lose its franchise, or you may get a discount or refund on your stay.

Even economy hotels/motels change the sheets every day. If the sheets were filthy for someone else, chances are they were the ones who made them filthy. If not, the person who was supposed to clean their room was definately reprimanded and probably fired. You shouldn't have to bring your own sheets, but feel free if you want to do so.

I often wonder about some of these reviews, since I have stayed in hotels with bad reviews and not had the problems stated. Any hotel belonging to a respected chain or with a reasonable rating by either the provincial tourism agency, CAA, etc. will be clean. I often wonder whether these individuals who post their complaints complain to the proper authorities as well. The trouble with on-line reviews it is give a person a chance to defame an establishment with relative anonymity. In addition many complaints relate to people requesting special priveleges at the last minute or arriving late and expecting miracles....

No, you do not have to bring your own linen when you stay at a hotel. There are numerous hotels in the Banff area that are clean and well kept.

Sheets are changed everyday a room is in use whether a staying guest or a new guest. Towels are changed daily as well. I've stayed in many motels and hotels and have never had a problem, most have even allowed my small dog who always travels with me. My hubby stays in hotels about 1/3 of the year and has never complained about the cleanliness of his rooms.
My only complaint has ever been their flat foam pillows. I always bring my own as I can't sleep on the ones they provide. I'm picky though, I like my feather pillows.

Oh wow!! Only if you are planning on staying at an extremely ratty hotel where you have to share the bathroom!! One that goes for $30 a night.

Alberta is one of the most prosperous places on the continent, and the hotels are top-notch. Of course they change the sheets when new guests arrive. They change the sheets every day, whether there are new guests or the same guests are staying from the day before.

Just check and choose a hotel that is in the mid to upper range of prices and I'm sure you will not only have clean bedding, but satellite television with a possibility of payTV, a coffee machine, a blowdryer, shampoo and conditioner, lotion and also a good chance of an internet connection.
