Do people actually want to tour the frozen north part of Canada in the winter? |
Just curious. I guess with global warming it may get as warm as 40 below zero at some times during the winter so it is doable. |

You wouldn't believe what happens here. There's an outfitter up north that has 4 teams of dogs(sleds) that does 5 day tours of the tundra. Price -- a mere $10,000.00. They sleep in tents, cook over a fire. His business is from Hawaii, Tonga, etc. Mostly tropical countries. By the way, 40*C is the same as 40*F. |

I camp in the winter in -30 weather, with a snow mobile, tent and other gear. Camping in the winter months is just as fun as in the summer, with the added bonus of no bugs. I only live in North Bay, and like to travel much further North. There are many businesses who offer these types of tours as well, where you can purchase weekend or weeklong packages, and cover a 150kms area. |

Sure, I've camped in 17 Degrees F. I had NO problems so , I guess with the right gear , and alot of grain alcohol .It is indeed doable.
Is that 40 below C or F ? Regardless , I have four teenagers in this house , and would relish the experience of getting away from here to anywhere. Save , perhaps , a volcano. |

We are saving for a train trip to Churchill to see the bears at the beginning of winter. There's an option to hike across the frozen tundra to see the bears.
My kid's elementary school in Southern Ontario had pre-printed minor frostbite slips for anyone who got a bit frozen at recess to take home.
