Jessica - AKA - Carolina Girl

Do they drive faster or slower in Canada?

Particularly Southern Ontario?

Pichi
In my experience (BC and AB), faster, but less aggressive.

It depends upon where the drivers are from. You can check that out from their licence plates. It also depends upon traffic levels and grid lock. Can't speed if you can't move. Many drivers in Southern Ontario drive at a good clip. They drive faster in rural regions, less cops to catch you speeding. Damn speed limits.

always depends where and when.... ppl drive on avg 130km/hr on the highways when it is less busy

We can't drive 55..Few police..Pedal to the metal in a lot of Southern Ontario..I always have to adjust to the slower highway traffic when I go to the USA. Toronto too crowded for speeding, but a lot of room further out.

they use kilometers not mph

?
The speed limit in Canada is100 kmph or 65 mph, some highways are 120 kmph or...what 70 or so mph...in the u.s. your maximum speed limit is what....55 mph.

killer_queen_fm
Well I have heard of people getting speeding tickets for doing up to 160mph. But the major highways are posted at about 55mpr
We use kmp, 55mph being about 100kmh

Well, the speed limit is generally 50-60kpm in a residential area. 70-80kpm on most highways, 90-110kpm on bigger highways. I;m not sure what your point of reference will be to determine the difference in speed here, but I hope this helps

I'd say about the same.

Much faster in my experince. The main highway, called the QEW (for the queen), is full of people driving very fast.

The speed limit is 100Km/H on major highways but it is typical to drive 120Km/H. I personaly go faster but thats because I am a speed freak.

Depends on who's driving. If your following the speed limit they are generally 100-110 kms, which isn't fast enough in my opinion. But then I'm one of the one who doesn't follow the limits posted!

Mopar Muscle Gal
faster
the 301 is a white knuckle road

Provinces(States) in Canada have different speed limits depending on the type of highway you are on. Double lane divided highways in Alberta, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia have 110km limits or 70mph, Ontario and Quebec, it is 100km or 60mph. Other main higways in Ontario the limit is 90km or 55mph. That help you any?

I have been to so many cities in the States and i know that Toronto drivers are much slower than our friends south of us. We have no choice here in Toronto. If we do go over the speed limit, there is always police right up our behin.. giving a ticket. Not only a ticket but boy, does our insurance go up. Car Insurance in the city of Toronto cost triple than in New York. It is very expensive. So the answer is we here in the city of Toronto drive much slower than in the States. Check the city speed limits and also the highway speed limits. Slower than in the States.
