no, they ask you what you do for a living and why you are going to the us, and ask all people in the car....no search though...I just came back from montreal last month...anyone who says yes is wrong....they can't search millions of cars a day...you crazy

If you are travelling into the U.S. from Canada it is the United States Customs that make the decision to search your car. If they are in a good mood and there is no terrorist alert they will ask you for your drivers licence and picture I.D. If they are in a bad mood or the terrorist alert is high they can search your car from one end to the other, inside and out, removing all your items and going through them. You have the pleasure of putting your car back together. If you come into Canada from the U.S. Canadian Customs can do the same thing.

No, indeed. You can take anything you wish out of Canada. The people who WILL search your car are the US border officials, because there are definite restrictions on the things you can take into the US.

it depends on your car and your looks
if you look like you might have the trunk of your junk car filled with drugs and you're tattooed all over, chances are you'll be searched
if you're traveling with your whole family in a normal car, it's very unlikely anybody would bother you

it is possible that they might....sometimes their searches are at random....best not to have anything illegal....always remove sunglasses and turn off the radio...and have your papers (ID) out and ready to hand over...

THEY WILL SEARCH IF SUSPICIOUS OF SOMETHING LIKE ODOR OR SHADY CHARACTERS. REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE DOGS THAT ARE TRAINED TO SNIFF **** OUT EVEN IF NOT RIGHT AT THE CAR.
