New Requirements for Travelers (From the US Department of state website):
The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States. In order to facilitate the implementation of this requirement, the Administration is proposing to complete it in phases following a proposed timeline, which will be published in the Federal Register in the near future.
This is a change from prior travel requirements and will affect all United States citizens entering the United States from countries within the Western Hemisphere who do not currently possess valid passports. This new requirement will also affect certain foreign nationals who currently are not required to present a passport to travel to the United States. Most Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and to a lesser degree, Mexican citizens will be affected by the implementation of this requirement. |

No not at all... All you need is a valid Identification card that is up to date. |

On my recent trip to Canada,I did not need anything except identification"drivers liscence".However,as one of the others said,it sure would not hurt to take it.A birth certificate won`t take up much room, and if you DO need it there you are. They may have changed their rules since I was there. |

Usually all you need is an ID...I was up a couple times in the last few years, and that was enough... |

Valid picture I.D. (driver's license) is all that was required when I was there. Good idea to check with your Auto Insurance company if driving, they might offer you a suggestion or two. |

no, it's the same as going to mexico. as long as you have your ID you should be fine. it would be a bad idea to take your bcertif, but it's not needed. |

Not that I am an expert....but it never hurts to just apply for a passport....it's the safest and ultimately the most trouble saving way. That way you can travel elsewhere as well. Usually at the Canadian border they will ask for a drivers license at the least. And make sure you omit that you've ever had any sort of involvment with any alcohol related run-in with the US law, MIP, DUI anything...they treat like you've commited murder in Canada and they will turn you around on a dime. |

You need a passport or birth certificate with a valid government picture I.D. |

You will need photo I.D. (drivers licence works) and proof of Citizenship (regardless of age) This can be a birth certificate, passport, baptismal certificate, citizenship certificate, or certificate of naturalization. It is important that you have these documents to get back into your own country as well. The onus is on the traveller to prove which country they have rights to enter. Make sure all children have proof of citizenship and permission letters from any unaccompanying parents. |
