Do you honestly think that Toronto is a friendly city?

Why or why not? How do you go about making social connections then? Any suggestion aside bars/pubs/clubs – not a place for a decent friendly conversation? Thanks for sharing. :)

I think it's harder to get to know people in Toronto than in smaller cities. However, I don't think this is unique to Toronto.

People are busy. The commutes are longer and the jobs are more pressure-filled, so people have less idle time.

I find that when you do talk to people there, they are extremely friendly. They just tend to volunteer less than they do, say, in western Canada. If asked for helped, it seems to be just as voluntarily offered.

I'm heading to Toronto for a few days tonight, in fact. If my experiences change I'll let you know. :)

Toronto is a very friendly big city. Of course if you go to London, Waterloo, Ottawa, etc, people in general are nicer, because it's a smaller city. However, go to Detroit, NY, or LA; and you'll see real big city rudeness.

I do not know of any big cities where you can go up to a stranger, ask them where something is, and chances are they will actually walk you to where you want to go.

I am a very friendly person and tend to talk with everyone. I find restaurants, book stores, social clubs, and various volunteer places are great places to meet people.

Want to meet someone nice and caring? Volunteering at a foodbank is a good idea. Want someone well read? A antique book store would be an ideal place.

Good luck.

Yes, Toronto is one of the worlds most multicultural and friendly city. Maybe people in a small city or town could be more open and seem to be more colaborate between each others, but in big cities people live in a different way as in small comunities. City life is just more faster than elsewhere, what means that there is sparce spare time. Even for a friendly conversation. Must say that I dont aprove this, but people sometimes just get tired of everyday life.
